Electric Standing Desk Black or White 1800mm $589.95 + Delivery/Free Pickup @ Retail Display Direct » All Comments

  • I'm not sure if it's just the photo, but the surface looks kinda strange. Like a slightly rough plastic. How does it feel? Just like a normal melamine desk?

    • +1

Features say its a "Scratch resistance melamine finish MFC board". I would be interested to know if this is similar to the Varidesk Material.

    • Also, how is the wobble/component rattle when extended? Having 3 segments for the height adjustment seems good for range, but adds in more points of wobble/rattle.

      • I currently have it up @ 110cm and while typing it has the slightest wobble, but this could be me cause its on carpet and i haven't adjusted and balanced. No rattle.

        • would your legs bump on the motor when you sit down? I read reviews on the Officeworks table, which has the issue.

          • @lily99: The motors are built into the legs so no chance of bumping on your knees.

    • +4

Feels like Razer hard mouse mat surface.

      • +3

That's what I was afraid of. More plasticy than normal. Bummer! Thanks for letting me know.

        • No probs, just an idea; you can always wrap it in wood grain vinyl if you don't like the colour/texture.

        • +3

They also sell the stand on their own, you could get that and slap your own top on it like an Ikea Karlby

          • +1

@Fergy1987: Very true. $480 for just the mechanism isn't bad. Gets up there in terms of price with a decent top like the Karlby though. Could just go with a Zen Space Desk for similar price.

            • @trankillity: Just bought the frame, thanks OP! Been looking at Omnidesk but they were a bit expensive.

Now to find the right table top.

Ikea Karlby looks good, but so does the Gerton for almost half the price.

              Otherwise Bunnings for $48

              • +1

@YellowEarthAustralia: When I was thinking about buying a base and top seperate, I was looking at this: https://chairforce.com.au/product/rafael-walnut-hardwood-rec…

Kinda on the expensive side, but 30mm walnut and commercial grade seems alright - just depends if it suits your colour scheme

                • @DeToxin: That looks beautiful - did you end up getting the walnut top in conjunction with the frame in this deal? If so, how easy was it to attach?

                  • +1

@Arcanity: Decided to go the easy route and got a base + top from another place. Still thinking about a nicer desktop down the road but this will do for now

                    • @DeToxin: Where did you end up purchasing from? I am still waiting to pull the trigger, so would be interested to see what/who you went with.

                      • @tcoates: Zenspace desks. A bit more expensive than this group but I had already ordered when I found this deal. Zenspace desks are getting tonnes of orders at the moment so some stuff is out of stock and takes a while to arrive. Desk seems pretty good so far. To be honest I think pretty much all of the dual motor lifting systems use the same parts from China - just check the lifting capacity, anything over 100kg will probably be the same. I mainly chose zenspace desks because of their 10yr warranty

                        • +1

@DeToxin: Thanks mate, appreciate you taking the time to comment. Do you notice any wobble when it is at an extended height? Do you have to hold down the preset height button for the desk to go up or down or can you just press it and it will do the rest? And if you dont mind, what size and model did get purchase? Cheers.

                    • @DeToxin: No worries at all - I'm still thinking it through, but read those later comments about the Danish Linak mechanisms vs something like the one in this deal or the Zendesk and am now conflicted as to whether getting a higher quality option is worth it. I reckon I'll end up making the same decision as you for the time being, though.

      • I recently bought this off ebay. it was surprisingly good quality and fast delivery.

They have many others plus its a physical store in NSW called mytopia or something

Warranty i don't really care it is in the end a desk not a macbook :)

  • +1

I think Costco has a similar glass topped one for about the same price if that's what you prefer.

  • +1

This is actually a good deal assuming it is solid and not wobbly and the table top is half decent.
I purchased a dual motor frame 120-180cm for $400, slapped on a 160mm ikea bekant for $120 and am quite happy. (right before covid price jacking/ OOS happened)

    • you purchased this frame for 400? Where did you get the frame from?
I might do the same thing :)

      • This was at the end of March. I ordered mine as my company were one of the first to adopt WFH very early, so prices weren't jacked/OOS.
It was the artiss brand dual motor, they were available on amazon and myer market. Both were OOS very quickly after I purchased, I havne't checked since then.

    • Was putting on your own tabletop easy to do? Just bought some screws and drilled them in or?

      • Table frame usually comes with the screws. I had a drill driver and drill bit to drill pilot holes and drive the screws in. Wasn't too bad.
I ended up putting the table top bottom side up, assemble frame upside down onto the table top then drill them in. Doing it this way makes it easier to align the table top as perfectly to the frame.
Had a second person to help carefully flip it back to standing position.

        • Yeah okay, doesn't sound too hard - provided you have a drill.
I'm looking at the manual wind IKEA stand/sit desk, but I think the table top is bad quality so replacing it may work well for me.

          • @JoKing: If you don't mind ikea tablettop, I imagine you can switch different models of frames with their table tops

      • Spec wise it looks similar but not the same brand. Doesn't look bad, if it's sturdy it'll be a good buy.

      • Postage is showing $500 for this frame

  • +1

Shipping is $50 for me (regional NSW) - So keep that in mind.

  • Nice, I brought office works 1500x700 version last week for 420, wish I'd gotten an 1800x length one. This looks like good value from all the options I've seen in recent weeks looking.

    • How is the 1500x700 from officeworks? Actually been eyeing it and started to do measurements in my office room.

      • Surprisingly solid, no noise, little wobble even up high. Wish they had a 1800 version but have to jump up to different model and pay $700+ instead (although you do get dual motor).

        • What about the motor position is it annoying?

          • @mwahahaha: Yes amusing design they came up with for that but I just did what the Q&A and reviews mentioned and swapped it around so its facing the back.

  • I'm on the lookout for an adjustable desk just because I am 163cm tall and every office desk is way too tall for me and I hate footrests….This may fit the bill. Do you think it would take a monitor arm with a clamp style fitting?

    • Yes, i've ordered "Vision Mount (VM-GM112XD) Gas Spring Aluminium Single LCD Monitor Arm Support up to 34" from MSY for $99 with free delivery. Hoping it arrives today so i can take the monitor off my desk to free more spare.

    • We got this and am happy with it. The other IKEA ones didn't go as low. https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/bekant-desk-sit-stand-white-sta…

    • +3

Same with calcium, I also got the IKEA desk a few year ago. It was the only one I could find at the time that can go to as low as 65cm (except for a few ebay listings). Most of other desks can only go to 72-73cm.

  • +1

Thanks.. finally pulled the trigger. Probably should have done it sooner

  • +1

For those ordering depending on where your computer sits think about cables you might eg I needed a longer display port cable to be able to reach the pc when in standing position.

    • +1

Also, if you have a powerpoint directly behind it ensure you pull the desk out far enough so it clears any plugs that are inserted while raising and lowering. It's a rude shock when you accidentally rip 'em all out the first time you raise or lower the desk. You'll also find out very quickly how fragile some power packs are. (Yes, that's the voice of hard experience talking…)

    • Yeah I also had to get a longer display port cable, plus my power board is somewhat tediously balanced on a small upside down bin to give all cables some extra slack.

      • +2

Before I changed locations I had a sit/stand desk in the previous office. What I did was get some velcro and attached a powerboard to the underside of the desk. The metal bar that ran across the width of the desk and which the top was attached to had just enough space that I could slide the velcro strapping between it and the desktop, and then wrapped that around the power board to hold it up. It meant the plugs were facing downwards so heavy power packs (like my MacBook's) would be in danger of falling out, so I just used it for devices that only needed a regular mains power cable.

  • The width looks a bit shallow in the middle part

    • +1

Center measures @ 650mm and sides measure @ 750mm. It's got some good girth :)

      • yes. the narrow section is deeper than most desks.

  • Is there such a thing as an L shaped standing desk?

    • +1

I have one at work although its more a corner desk…

      • Yeah I should have been clearer in my thoughts. I'm thinking of one that I think you say 'has a return'. ie the arms are not equal, with the smaller side being almost half the dimensions of the other arm… so like an L. It would hang in the air I guess .. another leg would get in the way?

    • Yes at Officeworks

    • of course. ikea sell that

  • +2

I don't understand the thinking in the cut out at the front.
That's just removing desk area from you. I want as much depth as I can get with my desks, so I can move my displays back far enough.

    • I was thinking that when i first looked at it, but after sitting in front with my chair it made sense, the arm rest doesn't dig into the desk like it did with my old desk and left scruff marks. Just my opinion.

    • agree but this desk is still pretty deep all the same.

  • @tamzie28 How does it fare comparing to omnidesk pro , if you ignore the cost.
I have already ordered omnipro, waiting for delivery from a month . I was thinking will cancel it and order this one instead

    • Email them and complain. I got upgraded to the pro desk and got my shipping fee refunded. It ended up getting delivered sooner and on a weekend.

      • When was this ? , I complained and they gave me COVID and stock reason . I had no other choice than understanding their difficulties and wait for it

        • Early July. I spoke with someone called Peter on the email who was very helpful.

    • +1

Hi, Can't really vouch for omnidesk pro as i don't own one but based on quality, build and functionality i'd say its a like for like without the premium price tag. The table frame and legs are very sturdy and heavy duty also very easy to assemble (all tools included if you don't have a powered drivers) and what caught my attention is the 10 years warranty where ominidesk requires you to take a photo and post it online to give you 5 years from their standard 3 years warranty. I think omnidesk is over-hyped like secretlab chairs with their hyped ads and premium price tags. All in all for what i need it for is just right.

Motor moves fast and smooth and quiet.

P.S. if you need under desk cable management you can get one form Ikea for under $20 bucks.

  • I have an omnidesk .I really like the smooth up and down mechanism of the table.Would suggest it any day as long as the prices are comparable.

  • +3

Bought an unbranded dual motor 160cm desk for around $530. Absolute life changer

    • +1

Same here - I've always had lower back pain/discomfort due to sitting for long periods, but ever since purchasing one from Ebay (back when work first made us WFH), bye bye back pain. Best investment ever.

  • I always want to try one of these. How is this one compare to those you can find in OW and IKEA?

The load capacity stated to be 150kg. If I put 2x 27" monitor plus 2 full size book shelf speaker on one side. Will that be a problem?

    • I have a 35" AOC Agon monitor (this is a heavy monitor)on the left and the PC tower (Full tower Corsair Obsidian 750D) on the far right where the cable hole is and it goes up and down without a problem.

  • +2

Could comfortably sit two and squish three kids at a 1800 mm desk.

  • What's the minimum depth of a tabletop these legs will support? i.e. the supports for the tabletop, how 'deep' (not width) are they?

The tabletop they provide is 750mm deep; my existing tabletop is 630mm. I'm wondering if I can get away with repurposing my existing (and buying the cheaper legs only)

    • +1

The bracket measures @ 570mm so your existing 630mm table top will fit.

      • Legend! Thanks a million

  • +1

Does anyone know how heavy the package is? Wondering if I can go pick it up from Padstow and chuck it in my car

    • +2

      The leg box measures @ 107cm x 32cm x 21cm Weighs about 15-20 Kgs (guesstimates of weight)
      The Tabletop measures @ 187cm x 80cm x 3cm Weighs about 10 Kgs (guesstimates of weight)

      • +1

Thanks OP! Seems like I can shuffle it into my hatchback :)

  • from the other deal i found this is quite cheap, $399 for frame only
possible to get own table top and maybe end up cheaper than $589?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Standing-Desk-Height-Adjustable-…

    • +1

Frame looks skinny and can only hold 100Kgs. Just be aware some i have come across the frame metal is not strong and feels thin and flimsy, screws that come with the frame and cheap and thread easily due to the holes are not lined up, not worth the frustration of sending it back and forth. Just my opinion.

      • hmm.. ok yeah if the difference is like $30-50 maybe better get everything from one place ie this deal.
wow pickup location is very close with my house

  • +2

I also bought this last month and can confirm the build quality is good with no trembling.
Although just realised that it say "Single Motor" on the box as oppose to Dual motor mentioned on the website. I have sent them the email to confirm my order.

    • any response yet?

      • @snippy yea they are tellings its an typo.
Trying to figure out how to check myself if its dual or not.

        • @signups I have the same box as you, ticked as "single motor" on the box.
Are they saying the website has a typo of dual motor, or the physical box is a typo? as the box is a physical texta mark tick.. it can't be a typo..weird
I'm trying to check aswell how it is actually dual or single

          • +1

@yellowfever: As per them, the Typo is on the box.
Thats what i thought and i am trying to figure out how to confirm.

            • @signups: thanks! I can not pull the trigger yet if its a single motor for that cost :(

Edit: If you can confirm then that would be awesome!!
two people with typos of single motor on the box.

              • +1

@snippy: well the motors are in the legs and there are connections from both of them. So looks like its an dual motor.

This seems better quality and heavy compared to this. Heavier desk means less wobbly at higher position. From Australian company rapid furniture.

    • this point is so true:
Most average models will have a height adjustment range from 720m to 1200mm. Whilst this is usually not a problem for most users, it does create issues if you're above or below average height. If you are shorter than average or considering using the desk for kids, focus on the lower range. Similarly, if you are taller than average, focus on the higher range. A good Height Adjustable Range would be 645mm to 1255mm.

    • +3

It's $729 for 1800mm and $59 shipping if anyone was wondering.

    • I want to know this as well, anyone got an update of how sturdy and wobbly this item is?

  • does this electric desk come white, or only black?

    • +1

Yes you can, it comes all black or white (frame+tabletop) or you can mix. Check on their website for variation.

      • I bought the frame in black, and an Ikea SALJAN top, going to set up on the weekend

        • Can you update us on the quality and wobble

  • +3

I can't speak for this desk but one problem with a lot of standing desks is that they wobble, I opted out for Ikea Idasen frame with a Ekbacken worktop instead of the the one that is made for the table. I am so happy with this purchase. I paid $610 for the frame and $79 for the worktop. While there is no 1 push button preset height adjustments I feel like this is the best bang for your buck if you want a stable desk.
So if you feel like a wobbling desk might be annoying to you have a look at Ikea Idasen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shBaNX7Uygs&feature=youtu.be…

Overall I am very happy with my Ikea desk

    • Oh nice! It's particleboard (instead of the crappy honeycomb fill of the Idasen table top), and actually doesn't weigh that much more (low weight rating is one of the issues with the Idasen).

A little bit shallow for me (I have the 160x80cm Idasen), but if I ever need to replace the table top, I'll consider that! Cheers.

      • Yea I went from a 75cm deep table top before but by changing to monitor arms instead of stands I find the 63.5cm or whatever it is to be enough :)

  • Is the 750mm depth measured in the the cutout section? My current desk is 900mm deep (with no cutout) and I don't really want to give up much depth if possible.

    • +1

      Center measures @ 650mm and sides measure @ 750mm.

      • +1

Thanks for the update, not deep enough for me unfortunately.

    • +1

This comment will tell you. :)

  • +8

Most of the standing desk company like Omnidesk, Zen Space, Battlestation, and many of the eBay dual motor desk are using JieCang lifting column and motor. JieCang is a Chinese knock off copy of the leading Danish actuator company Linak. The build quality and part used in JieCang unit is far inferior to Linak’s product. However, for everyday normal use, the JieCang unit will run without too much issue.

Most standing desk company charging you a huge premium and mark up using knock off brand like JieCang when you can buy the far superior product from Linak for around the same price. The JieCang lifting column cost less than $200 whole sale direct from Chinese factory. Linak actuator are used in most of the hospital bed and lifting machine in Australia, very reliable product.

I have recently purchased the Linak Kick and Click standing desk frame for $660 with the DPG1C controller, dual motor using DL6IC lifting colomn with weight limit of 100kg. If you want 140kg lifting capacity, it’s $880 with 5 years warranty.

Another option is to buy the Ikea Idasen lifting desk from around $749, which also use Linak lifting column and motor. The old Bekant use Bosch motor and has a lot of issue. You can’t go wrong with Ikea 10 years warranty though.

    • how much weight can an Isasen frame hold though? I am looking at frames purely.

      • +1

70kg according to Ikea website. Check this review out
        https://youtu.be/shBaNX7Uygs

        • thanks, that is probably a little too lightweight. 2 monitors + other things…

    • +3

@Panadol, do you mind to share how and where to get that linak kick and click directly?

The shop is currently closed due to Victoria Stage 4 restriction. The rep told me they will reopen as soon as possible.

        • +3

Cheapest I could find for the Linak was over $1,000. Any ideas where to get it at your price at a store which will ship?

          • +1

@plebio: The company name is Console Concept. Check the link I posted above. They do ship Australia wide, if you’re in Melbourne you can pick up for free which I did. Genuine Linak product and extremely good quality.

Just wait until this bloody stage 4 is over and they will reopen.

            • +1

@panadol520: at main page, the desk with linak starts from $995
which one is this "I have recently purchased the Linak Kick and Click standing desk frame for $660"

              • +2

@CyberMurning: The $995 one is with the 140kg lifting motor + the table top.
You have to go into their shop which is currently closed on their website. Once they reopen. You look for the Linak Click and Kick Economy option, then you can customise from their. The most basic option is $627 for the economy kit if you don’t want the DPG1C controller. Hope it helps

You can also search for their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/consoleconcepts/

I can still see the $627 Linak Click and Kick kit showing there

                • @panadol520: im interested in this item, could you tell me how sturdy the item is and if there is wobble, pref in comparison to the idasen

                  • @smako69: The frame and lifting column is very high quality and heavy, however you will still experience a little bit of left and right wobble at the highest setting. The Ikea idasen has excellent stability if you want absolute zero wobble.

            • @panadol520: Thanks for the info mate.

      • I too read into this and came to a conclusion of buying a Linak frame.
I had emailed Linak AU directly, and they directed me to https://activdesk.com.au/store/Electric-Sit-Stand-Desks-c144…

edit: There are two variations on their site. Activ and ActivLight which have different max capacity

        • +1

I have also look into this company previously, however, they are more expensive compare to the company I purchase from. The activdesk most likely uses DL6 or DL5 lifting coloumn with a separate control box. The company I buy from selling for $880 for the same spec.

          • @panadol520: You seem to have more experience with console concepts, do they do free delivery like activdesk?

            • @beeepbooop: They don’t have free delivery however their price is cheaper even with delivery fee. You get the exact same Linak lifting column

    • Cheers @panadol
Is it correct to assume that the tables from the company that OP posted are jiecang? How do we find this info?

      • +1

You can easily tell if they are JieCang by looking at the desk controller and the controller box for the motor. Check out the link below to see. JieCang makes a lot of OEM product for company like Zen Space and Omnidesk, they can put the company’s brand on the controller.

        https://en.jiecang.com/product/38/

        https://en.jiecang.com/product/37/

Check out the US company Lander desk (140kg) and Lander lite (100kg)on YouTube, you can see some review and get a general idea how the Linak desk perform. Lander uses Linak DL5 lifting column which is the same as DL6, just slightly different shape.

        • I've just taken a look at the lander desk and its beautiful, esp the tabletop. I searched for lander desk in australia and ergomotion.com.au came up. Have you heard of these guys? Their edesk is on sale atm though it's not the cheapest. However its linak (just by looking at its desk panel), supports 100kg BUT 3 years warranty. Their d11 desk supports 140kg and has 10 years warranty but doesnt show a price.

    • Thanks for the information!
Just wondering where does it mention the weight limit of the Linak desks?
I can't find that in the Console Concepts website…

      • The only information I could find was this:

thrust up to 500 N (approximately 50 kgs lift) per lifting column

So the maximum weight would be approximately 100kg as there is two lifting columns on the Kick and Click model.

  • Any options for a cheaper anti-fatigue standing mat?

  • Make sure you don’t stand for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. If you stand for hours at a time, you can develop knee problems after a few weeks. Standing still at a desk is quite different from walking or wandering around a shop.

    • maybe get that anti fatigue standing mat?

      • Even then, you will need to break it up with a mixture of standing, sitting, and moving (e.g. hopping from leg to leg, or changing your posture frequently). Our bodies have not evolved to withstand standing still for hours at a time.

    • +1

Typing this from the same fixed height standing desk I've been using for 8+ hours a day for the last 15 years. No problems. Took 2 weeks to get used to it, haven't looked back.

      • how to maintain good posture while standing that long hours? i mean would you maybe put your weight more on one leg for period of time or stand against the desk for example, or other unhealthy habit?

        • Make sure everything is aligned correctly height wise to almost force correct posture. Arms/elbows at 90 degrees and monitor centre just a little below eye level (at least thats what works for me). Near impossible to use while slouching.

I probably move around on my feet a lot, but not so much that I am conscious of doing so. I use bare foot with an anti-fatigue mat.

  • -2

Not sure I'd want to spend $600+ on a health fad like this. Hype, not high quality evidence…

    • A standing desk is by far the easiest way that I’ve found to avoid prolonged sitting, which research undertaken by Safe Work Australia suggests is something to avoid.

Evidence suggests that prolonged sitting is common in Australian workplaces. It is associated with significant negative health outcomes and is increasingly being recognised in the community as an important issue that needs attention.

Prolonged sitting is associated with a range of health problems including:

      • musculoskeletal disorders
      • cardiovascular disease
      • diabetes
      • obesity
      • poor mental health
      • some cancers
      • premature death.
  • When you raise the desk, how do you deal with the video cables being too short, assuming you have a heavy desktop PC on the ground?

Can you mount the desktop somehow to underneath the table?

    • Mine sits on the top far right of the table, but there are mounts you can buy to mount under the desk. Search "under desk PC mount". I'm looking at getting one soon so i can move the tower off my desk.

Hi can fully stand by these stand-up desks. I have 2 (one of the old generation and one of the new). Been using the old one for over 3 years and the most recent one since March this year.

With the second set, they sent the wrong screws - customer service was brilliant and sent me the right ones very quickly.

The RRP is kind of meaningless though, I have always seen them at 600ish. I have the 180cm one.

    Hope this helps

    • you bought from this exact same store?

actually i found this web/store back in june. but forgot how much they sell the desks at that time.

I have the Ikea Idasen, works great, stable

  • Bought one of the standing mats, was extra 30% off with mat30 code and they are in Amex shop small so got another $5 off, bonus! :D

  • Did anyone else's delivery box say "Single motor" on the leg box or is it just mine? I thought the site advertised dual motors :/

    • whats inside the box?

    • This comment on the same thread said a similar thing. I am waiting on OP to confirm, but apparently it is a typo.

      • i thought dual motor would be two bricks of motors we attached down there? so why people got confused and need confirmation?

    • Haven't received mine yet so cant comment.
Ordered the standing mat and a desk frame, but only received the standing mat for now.

      Waiting for the 2nd parcel..

    • +2

      same, box says single motor

OK i have opened the box, and both left and right leg have a motor on the top both with a control wire hanging out. It appears to be dual motor.
The instruction manual also states dual motor.
      Outside box label is wrong

      • okie thanks….. please please update us after all setup, wobblyness, fast or not when moving up and down, and overall quality vs price.
        thanks

        • no worries I'll update on Sunday, as the separate top I bought from Ikea hasn't arrived yet

          • @yellowfever: how much cheaper is the top from IKEA ? compare with the ones from this shop (the 1.6m or 1.8m)
i saw review of IKEA top where people cut it open it like hollow inside so not really keen on it

            • +2

@CyberMurning: depends what you're after. I was after a certain timber look. I didn't want plain white or black.
This is what i bought at 1.8m for $99 https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/saeljan-worktop-oak-effect-lami…

This is also this one I was looking at, along with many others to choose from
              https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/hilver-table-top-bamboo-2027828…

I'll let you know how I go with screwing into it. the IKEA manual says a max depth of 10mm screw holes which appear sufficient

              • @yellowfever: @yellowfever
yup would love an update, what colour legs did you get. I am about to hit buy (i got the mat) but the dual motor and single motor thing is worrying me a tiny bit (tho you seem to confirm the dual motor)

This is also this one I was looking at, along with many others to choose from
                https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/hilver-table-top-bamboo-2027828…

                that looks really good!

@snippy: I've put the table together. Took me about 1hr.
I boughts legs only and seperate 1.86m top from Ikea for $99
                  photo here

It is a dual motor and works very well. Works well.

For standing height I set it @ 1020mm from floor. Slight wobble but it doesn't affect the use.
For sitting I set it at 695mm from floor.

10 year warranty is great. Claimed weight capacity is 120KG

Delivery for frame took about 3 days, and 4 days for Ikea top.

                  $480 for frame + $33 delivery
$99 for top + $49 delivery less -$9.90 (10% )discount for signing up.
                  =$651.10

Not a cheap desk but I think it's worth it for a timber look electric desk @ 1.86m long

                  • @yellowfever: Thanks mate! I prob will get one then. Appreciate the work you put into this with the photo and the initial review!

                    • +1

                      @snippy: weight capacity is 150KG, not 120KG

no worries. also i didn't notice any hollowness in the Ikea table. I pre-drilled 10mm deep holes and used a 20mm long screw. Could probably use a longer screw but didn't wanna risk the top laminate being pushed out.

                  • @yellowfever: thanks.

Just set up one table; we bought 2. Got the white 160mm table top with black legs, easy to install, although the instruction booklet and the PDF do not match up. The screw bags are also not labelled correctly and there seems to be steps missing around re-tightening the middle beams after you secure the table top. The instructions also don't specify that you had to screw in the control box either to the left or the right where there are pre-drilled holes.
The table was pretty sturdy after I chucked a 15kg PC + 2 24" monitors.
The buttons seem a bit funny though, had to hold it down with a bit of power to keep it going up or down.
We had purchased a cable tray from IKEA, it's not that great for a 8 port fat powerboard so would only recommend it with a 4 port.

And thanks everyone, seller did confirm it was a typo on the box, it is DUAL motor.

      • Can you post a photo of your desk setup please?

When you say you had to hold the button down to get it to operate up and down, did this include the custom preset heights as well?

        • Can't speak for this standing desk, but that's how the controls on the Ikea Idasen work: you have to press and hold the button (whether the physical button or the buttons in the mobile app) - if you let go, it stops.

If using the preset buttons in the app, the table will stop at the preset (but you still have to hold the button until it stops). If using the physical paddle, then the table will momentarily pause at any preset height, then continue if you keep holding it.

  • Anyone else who bought both the frame and table top not received their table top yet? I got my frame on Thursday but they have yet to send out the table top.

    • How long did it take to ship?

  • I only got a day out of this product before it let the smoke out.

    • Oh shit. I ordered one of these yesterday :(

      Are they replacing it?

      • +2

They're sending out a new part. Hopefully I have better luck with the new one.

Really solid desk in the standing position though.

        • Noice. Fingers crossed!

          Great to hear.

    Received my frame today.
Very solid unit and happy with the quality of it all.

Bought a karlby tabletop from ikea and fitted it together.

    Very happy and would recommend

    • I'm planning on doing the same. What size tabletop did you go for? I'm worried if the frame can handle lifting a 30+kg tabletop, 25kg computer equipment and some body weight when i lean on to it.

  • Can anyone commend on the sturdiness of the desk and quality of the top who owns it. Very tempted at this price but afraid of wobbling. Is the premium in getting a updown desk, zenspace desk or ikea idasen better than this?
