Opti-Coat, Body Armour 9H (et al) - Anyone with recent experience with detailers in Sydney who do chemical paint protection?

Picking up a new car this week and want to get an aftermarket chemical treatment done to the clear top-coat and wheels. The dealer wanted a (laughable) $1850 for "their guy" to do it pre-delivery.

My last car was done by Bright Shine and while it was a fantastic job (and still yielding benefit four years later), their communication and after-sales support left a LOT to be desired.

So - looking for some recommendations from people who have had their car done in the last 12 months or so.

Thanks in advance

I went with https://definitivecardetailing.com/ and was very happy with the process, quality and service.
Can't comment on price (it was two years ago so not fresh in my memory) but I'm sure Frank will let you know over the phone.

    • Thank you. The prices on the website indicate they might be a bit exxy for my wallet "From $1299", but I'll enquire anyway.

    • +1 for Frank I’ve had 2 cars done with him, most recently a Kia Sorento a year ago. Prices might have changed since then but at the time was $950 cash for Feynlab ceramic lite, it’s been holding up great so far in terms of making car easier to wash, better than opticoat which I had on a previous car. The pricier option I think is Brila liquid glass. Logistics were easy he has a loaner you can use otherwise it’s an easy bus direct to city which is what I did. Very good comms and after sales service. Some other providers looked good but required me to have a garage - not an option for me unfortunately.

Just wanted to say thank you for the note and to close-out the thread.

For my car (mid-size SUV body) it was $1100. I ended up going with another detailer, but I could not fault Frank for his professionalism in managing my enquiry.

I got GTechniq Serum Ultra done at Fineshine in Zetland on a new car earlier this year. In addition to the ceramic coating, mild paint correction was done on the bonnet. Car came out looking amazing compared to collection from the dealer. Well worth the protection too, as the car still looks shiny even after a few months of no washing. Price was well under half of what you got quoted from the dealer.

Nice and close! That's the mob under the East Village Shopping Centre, right? Do you recall what brand of product they used?

Not answering their phone at the moment, but have just left a message.

      Thanks for the tip.

EDIT: Roger called back in under 30mins and quoted $699 incl GST

That’s the one, yes. Product is GTechniq Serum Light (5 year warranty) or Serum Ultra (9 year warranty).

Good luck! Your quote is what I paid - well worth!

        • Picked up the car last Wednesday and, with 6km on the odometer, I left it with Roger and the team for the Serum Light treatment.

I could not be happier! It looks superb and I cannot overstate how professional the service was.

Interesting fact: Fine Shine Automotive actually has the contract to do the treatments at the car dealership where I bought the car! They use a different (cheaper) product there and the dealership applies a 100-200% gross margin before they charge the customer! ie Tell customer price is $1800+. Customer baulks and price drops to $1300….dealership still laughing,

Did an amazing job on my black STI

    • Nice! Would you be comfortable sharing details of how much you paid and how long ago that was? Thank you for the lead, I've just dropped them a DM via Insta.

Half what you were quoted. However mine needed a pro detail first as it had a lot of swirl marks, which was included. They also did windows too which is great.

2 years ago. Still great, washing is easy, blast with hose then leaf blower, still looks amazing.

Sweet action! Thank you. Waiting for a reply. Will see what they have to say :-)

          • @[Deactivated]: Update: They had nothing to say. No response whatsoever.

  • Anyone used or can comment on any of these products?

    • Gyeon Quartz Pure
    • Gyeon Quartz Duraflex
    • Opti-coat Pro+
    • NXTZEN Graphene Pro
    • I put Gyeon Quartz Pure on my car when I first bought it in 2015.

I have reapplied it once since then and it still looks great and the water runs straight off it.

I use all their products. Gyeon View is awesome. You don't need to use the wipers most times.
