Value for money mics?

Due to wfh most mics have increased in price, eg popular ones like blue yeti, snowball etc. As I’m a beginner and only need one for video conferencing /gaming I went for a cheap fifine one which includes accessories like the arm, shock Mount etc. Any other recommendations?

  • I use cheap sades gaming headsets for under $30 AUD delivered from ebay and no problems in the 2+ years of usage if budget is tight and you don't mind having something on your head.

You could probably just use the headset mic as an input and output the sound from your speakers and just have the mic close to you on the desk or lap if you don't want to wear them on a video call.

  • Any cheap condenser microphone is good. I can tell the differences but I don't give a shit about the differences lol, they all sound quality, just some have more accurate sound profiles.

  • If videoconferencing and gaming is your goal, I use a Verbatim Deluxe for teleconferencing and the audio quality for both cans and mic are excellent. My model is not manufactured anymore, so this link is the only one I could find.

I have numerous mics, and for these applications you don't need a Snowball (though they are perfectly workable mics). Be aware that if you get the MIC line version (and not the USB version) then you'll probably also need a preamp.
