AUX on Case Not Working

So it has been 6 weeks since my son built his PC and he just realized that none of the AUX on his case works. Any ideas? he seems reluctant/lazy to try to find the issue.

Also, there’s no bluetooth! he thought it was built in.

Any ideas?

    Does that motherboard have BT?

Are the Aux sockets plugged into said motherboard?

"he We seems reluctant/lazy to try to find the issue."

  • It doesn't have BT because it doesn't have BT. Buy a little USB bluetooth adapter.

The 3.5mm audio jacks (I assume this is what you mean by AUX, even though it isn't an auxiliary connection) probably doesn't work because he hasn't plugged it in. Potentially he also needs to install audio drivers.

For both you and your son.

  • Did he connect the front panel audio?

If by Aux, you mean the sockets at the front of the case so you can plug headphones into, they need to plugged into the motherboard. Usually labelled F_AUDIO, looks like a few small pins sticking out, located at the lower end of the board.

As others have said, probably a missing connection from case to motherboard. Have to open her up and find the cable(s). Consult motherboard manual for where the audio port is and consult the case manual if you're unsure about any floating cables in there that aren't plugged in. Probably not a software issue, can always check device manager to see if any devices are missing drivers.

  • Yup thanks for the advice! I have passed it on to him. Motherboard does not have BT. Need to buy adapter.

The USB works for audio. Can plug headphones to USB.

I don’t think he will allow me to open up his computer. He did quite well with the cable management which took him a long time.

    Trial and error

  • There are audio jacks at front and back of case and none of them are working. Everything is plugged in properly.

Audio drivers are working otherwise he wouldn’t be abld to hear sound at all. He can via USB.

    Is it faulty case issue?

Well the audio jacks on the back are coming straight from the motherboard (unless it's some weird ass case) so it could be a motherboard issue.

More than likely it's a software problem (perhaps onboard sound is disabled? or default audio in windows is set to another device).
