Hi all,
This is my first post.
I am looking for cheapest 5G modem/router, also things to consider before buying.
This is not about 5GHz wifi network.
This about modem with 5G sim connectivity.

Why do you need one now, I chuckle every now and then when I see some guys trying to offload his last gen modem for $xx to recoup the cost when the brand new better one cost $x
500Mbps vs 20Mbps you decide.
A) Do you mean 5G, as in SIM cards?
B) Or did you mean 5G, as in 5GHz Wifi signal?
A) Former. No clue. Probably unwise to do since the modem you buy may be incompatible with current and future wavelength bands. (ie OzBargain's meme about 4G/LTE 700MHz Band 28).
B) Latter. There's many around. Just find one you like. I recommend ASUS, they may be great value and high quality, but they certainly are not the cheapest.
I don't get this comment? (lgacb08)
I don't quite get this. Are you asking for a router that supports both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands? Are you asking about an extender/repeater for the 5G mobile network?
A lot of smart devices, especially the cheaper ones like Xiaomi, can't connect to 5ghz networks. However a lot of routers seem to be dual band anyway right?
Did you have any luck in finding one @jokko? I'm looking for one too.
unlocked, I dont know if thats possible yet, but locked on plans I know telstra and optus both have them but they are locked to the sim that comes with them! change the sim requires a whole process to get working with the modem, let alone another network sim (impossible im told until 3rd partys firmware is available)
I thought Bill Gates installed one in my head during the covid test I did?
