2017 Salomon Estate Wildflower Syrah V: 6 Bottles for $119.94 ($19.99/Btl) + $9.95 Delivery @ MyWineGuy

40

This sounds like a great drop, recently rated 95 by Halliday.

The V stands for viognier, 4% of which was co-fermented with the shiraz. This - and the cool vintage - has produced the fragrance of the bouquet, red fruits joining the usually dominant black fruits. The palate, too, has a juicy elegance, making this a case book drink now or later wine.

This just sneaks in under $30, but put the price at $60 and no one would bat an eyelid. It's a gorgeous, gorgeous red wine, ripped with perfume and flavour, sweet spice and more. Hedonistic, almost. Indeed it's a 'sit there and marvel' kind of wine. You pour yourself a glass and it all comes gushing at you in the best possible ways.

Using the $30 referral credit brings this down to $89.94, or $14.99 per bottle.

  • Based off your previous posts for these guys you wouldn't happen to be associated would you?
Just would appreciate indicating you are if it is the case.

I can categorically confirm that I am not associated in any way with them. The extent of my relationship with MWG is that I have made a number of orders with them and I am always left delighted with their service. Their wine is not always the cheapest (sometimes far from it), but the deals of theirs I post are generally very good value (see the Filsell from a few weeks ago, for example). Their referral program is also great value (for both referree and referrer).

I am not associated with MyWineGuy (or with CaptainCurtis for the clarity) and I do buy a fair amount of wine online. Recently MyWineGuy became one of the few selected places, so I do recommend it as well.

I was looking at 2017 Salomon Estate Wildflower Syrah V myself and I probably would get 6 or 12 bottles. review is fantastic and I should get a case when I get home. Note that other reviewers gave it 93-94 points.

I also would like to point to couple of other wines that I believe worth having a look.

    • 2018 Yarran shiraz, 95 points by Halliday, https://www.mywineguy.com.au/products/2018-yarran-shiraz. $11.95 if you buy 12 becomes $9.49 / bottle + delivery. For 95 points wine it should be a good value.

    • 2019 O'Leary Walker Polish Hill River Riesling, 96 points. I haven't try this one but usually Rieslings from Polish River are quite good and 96 point wines should not disappoint you. It becomes $13.99 + delivery if you buy 6 or more and I am going to grab a dozen. I prefer Rieslings young, fresh and vivid and "crunchy electricity of the fruit" sounds good to me.

There are few other wines under or around $20, just do a search, but two above, I believe are the best value to my palate. But please also check other wines. And don't forget $30 off your first order.

  • Random referrals appear not to be working, any trick to this?

    • Same for me

  • This one is back in stock as a mystery item - same link works.

    • Have you tried it? I am thinking about getting few bottles
