Should I Update My iPhone 7 to The Latest iOS So I Can Fake My Location for 7-Eleven Fuel Discounts?

I currently have an iPhone 7 still running iOS 10.3.3
I am scared to update because of all the stories where Apple slows down older devices on purpose to make you angry and eats battery like crazy for no reason but to annoy you. So you are forced to buy the latest model. lol

However, I am currently missing out on locking 7-Eleven prices (7-11 app doesn't support iOS 10) and probably lost $50+ in savings that I would have gotten if I faked my location. I will probably lose more if I do nothing about it. I don't have an Android device.

I do not want to update because currently the phone is in a perfect condition:

  • No random app crashes
  • No random restarts
  • No slowdowns
  • Every app launches instantly
  • Can still watch 4+ hours of YouTube on a 4 year old phone
  • Battery loses 10% to 15% per day if I only use it for casual messaging and a few calls

I would still stay on iOS 10 because there hasn't been a single reason to update yet but 7-11 discounts might be the one and only which tips the iceberg.

Anyone have somewhat similar experiences to share?

My OzBargain consciousness is killing me and I think my OzB license is in trouble…

    The latest updates since iOS 12 have IMPROVED the performance of older iPhones. My son's iPhone SE runs so much better now than it did a few years ago and my iPhone 8 Plus is still a dream.

      Sounds promising! Maybe I will spend the sunday updating and seeing how it works. Hopefully nothing bad happens!

    Your iPhone will be forever jailbreakable no matter the system version is, I’d recommend update to the newest system for more features and better securities.

    The only thing you're missing out on is obtaining financial advantage by deception. That's actually a good thing.

    I’m pretty sure you can save SHSH blobs and downgrade to iOS 10.3.3 later? Not sure how it works though.

    what does iphone update have to do with fake locations? thats not a new ios feature
    jailbreak, sure

    anyway just update your phone and maybe replace the battery. im still using an old SE, popped in a new battery recently and its as snappy and long lasting as new

      7-Eleven app only works with iOS 11 and above.
      I am still on 10.
