    Why does this exist?

    • I had the same thought, but the reviews are really good.

      • +24

I rinse my razor under a hot tap, does the same thing.

    • +1

Why does anything exist? Mostly everything humans have in the modern world is an unnecessary luxury.

  • +16

Just buy a double edge safety razor and save your money.

    • Any recommendations?

        Rockwell 6C - https://getrockwell.com/products/rockwell-6c-razor

There's a few Aussie e-tailers that sell them.

        Qshave for $14
Bought a few for myself and male family members

        • 100% this. Just bought one for myself after seeing a deal here - the shave is fantastic. Blades are incredibly cheap, shipping wasn't even that long! Highly recommended.

        • Can you get travel cases or is this a home shave only caper?

          • @0jay: You can get something like this or simple like this

            • @ShouldIBuyIt: Ta, not sure this gear's gonna protect a fitted blade in a tightly packed or thrown around wetpack.

Might just stick to the Gillette twin blade jobs.

        • Thanks mate, I'll give this a shot next time there's an aliexpress special

  • +24

What an exorbitant waste of money. Bargain my arse.

Use a DE razor and hot water, for a 1/4 of that.

    • +4

Tell us how you really feel lol

      • +1

        Holding back isn't he?

  • +6

Have had a play with these at work (Shaver Shop), the goal is to imitate a hot towel shave without the hot towel. Heat helps open pores, etc., makes it a more comfortable shave. Kind of an odd sensation but enjoyable nonetheless

    • No access to hot water? Nothing like a dry shave to open up the pores.

Ok, shaving after 40 plus years someone gave me the best tip.
Shave immediately after showering, do not dry your face after shampooing/washing/rinsing then using a blade razor (any kind i use a bic disposable) shave away. Do not use any soap or gel or oil (tried them all) as it just puts chemicals on your face that cause the irritation. I have sensitive skin and get almost no rash from doing it this way. I also use dermaveen afterwards but it's not really needed. No Rash - No Ingrown Hairs - No expensive chemicals.

Can you post this again please?

    • +4

You realise different people have different skin conditions and sensitivities though? What works for you doesn't necessarily work for others.

I have found the Trishave cream from Coles to work far better for irritation than any other method or expensive products for me personally. I know others where it doesn't suit them at all. It's a trial and error thing till you find what works for you.

I would be tempted to try this heated razor one day when the price is more amenable. Could be a gimmick for some or a real benefit for others.

      • +1

I have sensitive skin and use a DE razor, I can not shave with no cream, or even cream with a bad lather. I use Taylor of Old Bond Street and it makes a huge difference. Trying to claim that every gel, soap or oil causes irritation for everyone couldn't be more wrong. and for the majority of people it does the opposite.

        • So glad I only need water (cold tap even)

          • @justtoreply: Perhaps because I'm obsessed with getting the cleanest possible shave, and go over it multiple times, I need that extra lubrication?

            • @elementzer0: Probably. I don't have enough time for that. By the time I do my whole head I've already regrown a 5 oclock shadow :/

    • +7

I shave while I am having shower, no soap or gel nothing. just hot water and done. I have been doing it for years in this way and always have perfect result.

      • +2

Same with me, instead of shaving with a heated razor or shaving once you get out of the shower, I find it easier to shave while in the shower. It's the hottest shave you can get due to the hot shower water, and you don't need any shaving cream or gel.

        • That's alot of water though.. Very wasteful.

Ooo awards by TIME and Engadget.

(Mental note to self - TIME and Engadget reviews are full of shit.)

  • Not a great review and gives some insight in to the positive reviews.

Im intrigued…..who would buy this gimmick
The razor heads are about 9 bucks each.

    • +2

      money to burn perhaps?

      • +2

Even if you have money to burn….you wouldn't be that stupid (unless you are Clive Palmer).

Why not? Were you challenged by their stance?

      • +1

Yes. My boycott caused their yearly profit to drop by $8 billion USD.

        • Well people with particular dispositions and a particular demographic caused it. Primarily poor down-trodden white males no doubt. Whether you fit the mold only you know.

          • @[Deactivated]: It was a massive fail by the usual virtue signalling woketards no doubt. Whether you fit the mold only you know.

            • @Lets Go Brandon: Virtue signalling, woke. Lol. If I had a dollar for every time those rw privileged cliches were rolled out by ignorant fools I'd be a multi-millionaire. The terms might not be particularly old but they've long since lost any impact - if indeed they ever had any in other than ignorant conservative and extreme rw circles. It almost every case I've seen them used they said nothing other than this user has low understanding, is socially unaware, and likely lacks rational intelligence. Get used to it pal, toxic masculinity has no place in educated societies and the modern world.

              • @[Deactivated]: The $8B USD in lost revenue proved toxic masculinity is here to stay in every educated society in the modern world. We socially unaware extremely ignorant right wing intelligence lacking conservatives saw it as a major victory over the commie lefties. It's not too late to join the winning team, pal.

                • @Lets Go Brandon: I'm sure you did. You understand the concept of woke? This might help, altho I doubt it. https://www.theguardian.com/society/shortcuts/2020/jan/21/ho…

No doubt you'll continue screaming about "the left" trying to stifle "free speech" and dissenting views. The irony is obvious, if not to you and your mates.

                  • @[Deactivated]: There will be no screaming. My mates and I won. You lost. Be a good little sport and graciously accept defeat.

                    • @Lets Go Brandon: I lost what exactly? Unless you're planning on handing in your membership of the vacuous conservative right and jettisoning the playbook you have to keep sprouting the same nonsense about stifling of alternative views surely? What alternative view is there to family and sexually violence I wonder? "She made me do it/asked for it" perhaps?

Not wedded to the rw antipathy for "cancel culture" then, or do you only apply that label when it suits? Look up the meaning of hypocrisy some time.

Multi-blade razor heads are a gimmick, let alone heated ones. You don't need more than one blade.

    • +1

For those wondering, the first blade does all the cutting. as soon as it loses its sharpness, it grabs the hair and pulls up the skin, which the rest of the blades proceed to scrape.

  • is this pure gold plated? if then is a good price for the current trend

toxic masculinity razor, is this the best a man can get?
