LED grow light to assist plant's growth

Has anyone installed or used LED lights to assist in the growth of their plants at home?

The problem we are facing is that our place does not receive enough sunshine hours during the day to grow our plants. Regardless of where we put out plants and little vegetable garden, they suffer from this deficit.

An example of what I am referring to is here

I have the same problem, I have a big gum tree and the shade covers much of the property for much of the day.

Thankfully I have partial sun loving marijuana variety and every one is happy again.

depends on what you are growing, how much you are growing and the reason for growing.

if you are growing vegetables to eat to be economical, then the electricity bill would probably negate any useful savings.

  • Should be no problems, we switched to LEDS for the fish tank a few years back and the plants seem to be doing OK..except for the ones the Africans ate….cichlids that is. :)

  • No need to necessarily go with a red / blue array, a high output white strip with a colour temp around 3000K would probably do a far better job…

  • Thanks everyone might try the normal led lamp for now to help out. Got some plant spray from bunnings which assisted with growth. All new to this business, don't have a green thumb yet.
