I bought one of these for a bargain price from the OzBargain post:-
"Gigabyte G-Style T1005M Multi-Touch Tablet PC $399 (+Shipping)" (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/49446)
It's an even better bargain now that we can run Android on it as well. I have Android 2.2 (Froyo) and 3.2 (Honeycomb) Operating Systems working (with bugs!) on my Gigabyte T1005M tablet alongside the included Windows 7 Home Premium. Also I have Ubuntu Linux 11.10 (Ocelot) running so it's now a Tripple-boot machine.
Why then Android as well? It's just that it seems to be the best way to get multi-touch working in it's full glory, way better than the current Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux offerings anyway. For example I installed the free Android "Moon+" ebook reader so now I can read epub books with pinch-to-zoom and glorious page turn animation. Cured my Ipad envy in a single blow! :)
But FBReader (faster than Moon+, also free / open source) doesn't work … one of the bugs I'm hunting down just now.
Anyone want to join in the fun of bug hunting and get ready to load Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) onto it? (Google have just announced that Ice Cream Sandwich source code will be released "before the end of the year").
If we can document the process here, it should be helpful for owners of other bargain priced X86 CPU tablets with multi-touch screens to make use of lots of those Android Apps.
Then the post should be in the off topic section where you are welcome to discuss to your heart's content. Although you might be replicating discussions that can be found in more dedicated android hacking areas, where you would have access to more resources than here.
If such discussions do start the thread will be moved.
