Why do people always say this? Why should a first post receive special consideration? For that matter, should people not be gentle to the second or later posts?

No lube, ever. Even if it's a freebie.
That's rough.
Concur
Because the community can be real nasty to first time posters turning them away. Same applies to forgetting the price in the title, people are rude -
An enjoyable first post is more likely to lead to a second post. Same goes for your first time.
No offence, but
Because you get some guy called jv throwing bold text into your post
It's only people who haven't read the posting guidelines -
because some people are quick to be dicks on the internet and think that someone being unfamiliar with their precious forums is a valid reason for it
You got that L - learner icon
Honestly I think it kind of feels a bit critical at times, especially if you're quite new to the community. At first you find a bargain you think people will enjoy, you create your bargain, put info in, put what you think people will want to see, put effort into it.
Then you wait, thinking hopefully people will like the bargain.
Then the comments come in, and its 2 or 3 people saying its been cheaper before, then a few whose found an ebay listing thats a dollar cheaper or people saying "not a deal!!!".
Or even worse you took that extra few seconds to post and someone beat you to it for a bit so you're marked as duplicate and removed. As a newbie you feel like you failed right out the gate, and you stop wanting to post deals after that. Or if you've seen it happen to other posts you feel that the community will do the same to yours if you forgot to check some site you never knew about that compares prices.
The forums are sort of similar, you (at least I) have got amazing advice here, but there have been times someones asked a question (albeit silly question) and people will call it out straight away, call it stupid etc. So for a newbie it can make you feel a little worried your post is going to be one of them.
Still though, not sure if there's really a way to combat it, or even if it needs to be. I don't want to say people shouldn't be open to comment what they want but I feel thats the reason this opens up.
…its been used quite a bit by the 'new user/1st deal post' face mask sellers as of late….doesnt seem to help though!
First reply in this thread - please be gentle.
Maybe it's used as an icebreaker, noob is nervous and just doesn't want to be flamed for making any mistakes or maybe they've seen other noobs use it and think that it'll forgive them their mistakes.
I've also noticed trolls often use this in their first post.
Cause we're pretty savage over here lol
Is this your first post? π
Because first time is always painful π·
And disappointing? π€
There's this user called JV who can be quite tough….
Yes gloves are off for second post
