ABC Pastry frozen dumplings from most Asian grocers.
$5.50 or so for 600g.
Shanghai Pork and Coriander or Shanghai Pork and Chinese Spinach with Shrimp for the win!
Aldi as a last resort, they are not bad.
I wouldn't even say last resort…the pork dumplings are made in Australia and delicious. I boil them for about 7 mins then shallow fry for colour and flavour. Any other techniques would be greatly appreciated…I've tried steaming them but it's not quite the same.
Heat frypan.
Add a little oil to a frypan.
Add dumplings.
Add water to about halfway up dumplings.
Loosly cover with lid.
Allow water to evaporate.
Fry until bottoms of dumplings nicely brown.
Should take less than 10 minutes in total.
I'm impatient, so I nuke them for 4 minutes and then fry in a generous amount of oil.
This is the way.
Although I would add a lot less water, cover tightly to steam cook it like a combi-oven.
Once it's mostly cooked, remove cover to let all the water evaoprate, flip them over to fry one side till crispy.
15mins tops for the whole process.
