All aboard the hype train!
"a battery that lasts up to 24 hours"
😲😲
Lol yeah dont get terribly excited… I'm sure it'll have a great battery, but lets not stretch things :p
Probably with Flight Mode turned on, brightness down, no apps running, left idle for days…
left idle for days…
That's more than 24 hours.
So I have to replace it every day! ? ;) I was hoping it would last 3 years until planned obsolescence set in?
With 2 hours of on-screen time?
Don't think they will, the phone is on the Google website as well
$599, I'm happy with that.
$449 would be better.
Don't they normally go on a sale/?
$499 would be more reasonable given current exchange rates
Well, might not of been released early, the phone is already on the Google store if you search it up.
It was supposed to been announced overnight around 1 a.m. AEST I believe, but JB Hi-Fi jumped the gun and had their information up prior to midnight, hence this post.
I don't think it has NFC or wireless charging which is a bit of a let down.
It has NFC but no wireless charging. Would be weird to not have NFC since Google have GPay
I won't miss wireless charging though because it's a pain to position it etc.
I just use the Google Pixel Stand for my Pixel 4 (yes pricey, but I got it at a discount) to wirelessly charge
It's a fantastic feature if you have a car with a wireless charger. I think this is the dealbreaker for me unfortunately…
ah i see, not bad then for the price point.
I forgot the main thing I dislike about pixel phones, no SD slots. Better off buying a second hand S10+ at this price imo.
i read that pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 is coming out in spring. is there really a point of getting this?
5G is not practical & doesn't have the range if your out of the City, so that extra $$ towards 5G specifically is not worth it.
Pixel 5 would be their premium flagship, so can't compare to a mid ranger device like the 4A. And there is a particular market this phone is aimed at to compete in the mid range market with the iPhone SE 2 and the Chinese brands not $1500 Premium Flagships.
The pixel 4a 5G should be thought of as the pixel 4a XL that just happens to have 5G support.
compared to the 4a it almost certainly will have:
and for $749 that might be a decent deal too. battery and camera being the best perks for me.
Pixel 4A 5G will start from $799
@kerfuffle: Ahh sorry my mistake. too late to edit.
@SgtBatten: That's true. Though I hate what Samsung did with their models. No true stand out features to warrant the price hike from 4g to 5g. And with the Exynos processor n such being inferior to the Snapdragon… Tsk tsk Samsung.
any reason to ditch my current 8 month old 64GB Pixel 4, to a Pixel 4A?
I know 4A is 128GB and other minor differences, but is $599 worth a change over?
I only spent $199 on my Pixel 4 from the last loophole deal…
Depends on how much you value the camera and battery life (as a fellow Pixel 4 owner)
battery on Pixel 4 is shiiiiite @ 2800mah. although 3140mah isn't that much higher
Pixel 4a is missing the "16-MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom (Æ’/2.4)" but this appears to be in operation when zooming only?
I'll think I'll hang onto my 4 until the 5 comes out.
Personally waiting for the 6 myself haha
Hell naw!
$199 for the Pixel 4?! Where was that loophole deal, do you have a link?
Deal was back in 2019
$199 and then cancel the plan without any fees.
I guess $599 is OK but not really a bargain, do Pixels get cheaper if you wait?
Sometimes there's sales, but not sure if that applies to the A pixels i.e. 3A and 4A
Worth a switch from the 3a XL?
im thinking the opposite if its worth getting the 3a XL cos it has a bigger battery and screen compared to the 4a
Choo choo
