I've never used a food app before. I thought you just showed them the deal on the app and paid for it like normal but on the app when I looked yesterday it said mobile ordering. So do I order through the app and pay with my credit card? I use my HSBC tap and go card for everything now and get the 2% cashback.
This is a genuine question. I'm not a techy person but I'm tired of paying now $3.70 for a small sundae and $4.35 for a medium shake and on the app yesterday the shakes were $1.
Some of the offers allow you to scan (generate a QR code) and pay in store, but there are others that only accepts In-App payment. It is quite user friendly and should be easy to use.
For your health's sake stop using it ;)
A lot of the deals are in the Rewards section at the bottom. Check there first. You can either process the order fully online, or you can show them the QR code.
You need to add your HSBC card to the app. Some of these new deals are for payment in the app only, not by the scan code + pay at counter.

Do I order when I'm there using their free WiFi or can you order in advance? How do you use it in the drive through?
I don't have WiFi through my phone provider so I'd be using my Netflix phone that I use at home through my home WiFi but using McDonald's free Wifi when I'm there. That phone doesn't have a phone number (can't remember if I put the SIM card in or not as I just wanted it to watch Netflix on the tv at home). My old phone is prepaid and doesn't have internet, just calls and texts.
It might sound a strange system but it's been working for me so far.

I feel like you're really overthinking this. Just give it a go one day, you don't have much to lose. Even if you just buy sauce or a soft serve. They don't charge you until you check in at the restaurant anyway.
You can always not even complete the order if you want to get the hang of the order process/screens if you're worried.
Have you tried playing around with the app at home??? Like others said, it's pretty straightforward, but only if you put the effort into trying the app. You'll see what you can and can't do.
Yes, I've looked at the menu items and the special offers (hardly any for me) but I have to keep tapping on my tablet for my nearest McD's to show up so the map gets bigger and bigger and finally my closest McD's shows up and I tap on it and then I get to see the special offers and the menu and the prices. But that's as far as I've gotten with it.

…If you click on "My Rewards" (I assume thats what you mean by special offers?) and click on the deal you want, it immediately lets you select "Add to Mobile order" or "Scan at restaurant"…..
@tulip99: The $1 shake is "in app payment only", so you have to pay in the app, not at the restaurant.
It's not that hard, follow the prompts and instructions in the app. It's the same as any other online purchase. Add what you want into your cart, choose payment method, choose store etc
