Is PNG particularly renowned for their two minute noodles?

    • +3

      No, JPG is much better.

  • I think its rubbish.. many coles put them on $8 and $10

    • My Coles put it on $3, some $1.5, a box for sure

      • I doubt that.

        • No, it's for real. my local had a couple of boxes for $3.

  • +1

My Coles has had these $3 a box for over a month

    • $3 for a box of 36 noodle packs?

      • +4

        It was $5 a while back, now it's $3.

        • Ah just clarifying… Not sure why someone negged for that lol

          • @Chocobros: Is this a store clearance thing though or normal price?

            • @Slut: In the picture it is labelled as:

              REDUCED TO CLEAR

So yes it appears they are on clearance at Coles.

  • +1

Is there a reason why these are $3 to $10 at Coles?

I mean, do they taste worse than the chicken flavour made in other countries, or is it short dated, or…?

    • +3

I don't eat them but grabbed a box from Coles a week or so ago for my teenage kids. No complaints from them so can't be too different in taste even with the packaging being different.
I think there was like 6 months or so left on the BB date but I mean they're noodles….and in my case for the kids so not concerned one bit lol

  • +1

Purchased. Hopefully they include lots of MSG.

    • +1

OMG lots of MSG in PNG

  • +2

The chicken flavour here is no way near as good as the malaysian one, but not sure about png

  • They were Jan 2021.. may be neg feedback ended up in clearance

  • A lot of people on various fb groups reporting these to not taste the same as local product.

At this price its a hard pass

  • I just cancelled my order x2. More so on the principle of it being on clearance through Coles for a 6th of the price

    • +1

Classic oz bargainer, it's on the page, it must be a good deal.

      • Actually no. I purchased them earlier in the day. I was cruising Ozbargain and saw all of the comments. Again the Ozbargain community put the price in to perspective which resulted in me cancelling the order.

  • $12 at my coles

If I was selling something made in PNG, I'd be hiding the fact like crazy.

    • +1

Except the packaging isn't intended to be for us. Its PNG local market packaging.

    • Why would you even state that? What other countries do you have an aversion to, and why?

      • Why, where are you from?

        • -1

          Largely irrelevant, but Australia.

  • You can get 5 for $1 of the name brand version.

    • So $7 for 35

      or

$7.20 for 36 (compared to $18.75 for 36 in this deal) if you wanted to know the apples to apples value comparison.

  • +2

Went to Coles once and there was no 5 for $1 homebrand noodles left (COVID horders). Instead, I bought a box of these, the shelf price was $8, but then it was scanned as $10 at the checkout, so I got it for free.

Tastes different to the Malaysian-made Maggi noodles, but still good.

  • Price coming up as $12.5 instead of $18.75
