Are These The Same Lounges Just with Diff Names and Prices

Long story short.

Domayne have a couch that I want. They call it Wiltshire and its for $3,000. They dont wanna go down on the price much.

Harvey Norman have a similar (if not identical) couch that they call Bailey. Its for $2,600 and the store rep wanted to go down to $2,000.

Both Domayne and Harvey Norman state that the same furniture product can't be sold by each other (weird but OK).

Are these the same couches or am I imagining things?

Dude at Domayne said "no they totally diff build etc". Obviously the lady at Harvey Norman said theyre the same and shes just giving it so much cheaper.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

P.S the diff I found in their descriptions is in frame material and leg material. One says timber while one says Larch wood/plywood. Is this just a diff in description or is this a major diff?

Same factory, slightly different colour to get around the "we dont stock the same items" crap that other stores pull (like Bunnings and their, "we don't price match that because that's the XLR5600T and ours is the XLR5600Tb")

Buy the one you like or buy the one that is the best price. There cant be that much more comfort difference in a $1,000 premium.

  • I'd go with the cheaper one unless the leather feels thinner on the cheaper one and/or the cheaper sofa is weights much less overall.

The more expensive one is more shiny.

The shine is an essential feature of this style of lounge.

    More shine = more dime

  • I imagine the warranty is the same so get the cheaper one.

Yes. Domayne and Harvey Norman are both owned by Gerry.

Domayne and Harvey Norman are basically the same company own by the same company selling the same stuff from the same factories.

They look the same thing to me.

Maybe do a store visit and compare?

  • The way it's sewn near the arms of the big one is different. Could be an entirely different quality of leather or standard of craftsmanship in either one. This is the kind of thing you want looking good in 10+ years time, not falling apart or leather cracking.

Could be same factory, but build and part quality can actually vary even from same factory

Best to check out in person

You need to be told in writing, what leather is used in each.

https://www.galenleather.com/blogs/news/leather-grades or any other site that describes the different leathers.

"Leather", "Luxurious premium leather' or "Premium leather" are not grades of leather. They are vague marketing BS words designed specifically to NOT tell you what you are buying !!!.
