      Yeah, I've decided I want a 34", 1440p IPS, Thunderbolt with at least 2 HDMI and 120Hz

      Can't find anything close tho.

        https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-38wn95c-w-ultrawide-monito…

This is what you want. I'm saving up for that one, $2200. 3840x1600 so even better than 1440p as you get more vertical. I and many who have 34" 1440p want more vertical.

        • I've seen that. 38" Might be a slight stretch to fit on my desk

          Has everything

        • +2

Have owned this LG model for about a month now and can highly recommend it! Awesome piece of kit and has delivered over and above expectation for me.

Only unintended consequence of moving to this as my sole WFH monitor is that it becomes more problematic when screen sharing on web conferences as your screen looks tiny for anyone else so you need to be cognisant of that.

          • @CamM: Can’t you share the application only? Would solve a lot of your problems.

            • +2

@DanasaurusRAWR: Thanks for the suggestion - you’re right that it helps. The first time I had to screen share with this monitor, I went on autopilot and just shared my whole desktop and was very quickly told that my screen was ridiculously tiny!! Never made that mistake again ;-)

Since then, I have taken to just sharing a single app at a time and ensuring (obviously) that it’s not using the full screen width. Even so, I have noticed that it can look small on other people’s screens. Maybe it’s due to the additional vertical pixel count of this monitor, but I’ve just found that more often than not, people need me to zoom in a little to make it more legible for them. Not a big deal, but the reality is you need to be very aware of your screen/window size etc when sharing and this is just something I’ve never had a problem with previously. Just takes some time getting into the habit.

When all is said and done though, I love this monitor and have zero regrets in buying it.

          • @CamM: I have that issue now with 1440p - most folks are working off FHD, but I see that as their problem, not mine :D

        • I've measured my desk and it'll fit!

Wife's given the go ahead. But I will wait for a deal.

          • +1

@giventofly: Woohoo! You won’t be disappointed!! Hope you can find a good deal soon. I needed a WFH setup ASAP so preordered mine after some research and was counting my lucky stars I held off buying its predecessor (i.e. 38WK95C-W) given the new model is better on every level and arrived at a considerable discount on price. It wasn’t on special, but it was much cheaper than the outgoing model.

            • @CamM: I think I'll order it soon and keep an eye out should I need to use my cards price protection.

Do you game? If so, what GPU do you have? I've got an RTX2070 - wondering how much of a hit it'll take in games like GTA V, Far Cry 5 and Battlefield 5

EDIT: Also, where would you buy it from? I've never bought from Scorptec or Mwave. They any good?

              • +1

@giventofly: I game casually, but XB1 rather than PC these days so unfortunately I can't give you any tips re: how your GPU will perform.

I bought mine from Scorptec and was very happy with the experience. I'd opted to pick up from one of their Sydney stores, but they got stock at their other store first. After a quick web chat with their team, they happily changed my pickup location and ensured one was put aside for me. When I picked it up, they mentioned that my pre-order was actually the first order they'd taken for this model and they showed me where they'd flagged my order in their system as a "priority" (i.e. given the model was brand new and stock was exceedingly limited, they were ensuring that my order would be fulfilled from their initial inventory). I paid $2199, so not the cheapest on offer - but not the worst either - and I was prepared to pay the "pioneer's tax" on a brand new release model.

I purchased a Brother MFC colour laser printer from Mwave around the same time as I bought the monitor. Yeah… that was an expensive month! I've read about other people having mixed buying experiences with them, but I can only go off my own and I found them easy enough to deal with.

If I was buying again, I'd go Scorptec - mainly because I was very happy with them and their store is closer to me. But these are just my personal experiences. As always, YMMV.

                • @CamM: Thanks for the response!

                  • @giventofly: You're welcome! Hope you can score a bargain on the LG in the near future - really don't think you'll be disappointed with it.

        • That is on my want list too but think it will be a few months before it drops in price.

  • I

    MUST

    RESIST

    !

    • Resistance is futile!

  • Awesome thanks OP, was tempted but couldn't resist with the added coupon! Trouble deciding to buy two or one but in the end just went with one and will use existing 24" for dual setup. Thanks.

My mind says yes.., but my pocket…. my pocket is telling me….. NO!

  • +2

QUHD as stated in title is misleading, I got excited thinking that 8K screen for $507 is a steal. Its actually just QHD

  • -7

What are the chances this monitor has HDMI 2.1? Slim to none right…?

Trying to future proof for PS5 and RTX 3000 series compatibility.

    • +33

probably about the same chance as you clicking the link and looking at the specs

      • +5

        Spiceyyy

Description on the website says 165Hz.

  • Expect this product to take at least one month for delivery. Dell has massive supply and logistics issues right now.

    • +7

Mine has an ETA of this Thursday

  • Lol got 1 from previous deal. Ended up getting another 1 because of this..
Dam ozbargain keep emptying my wallet

    • Same here, was a steal at $534 but at $507 I guess I'm replacing both my monitors.

  • Resisted the other day, pulled the trigger now.
    Gj OP.

  • +4

How does this compare to dell's ultrasharp lineup? Besides the response time.

    • Yeah, also interested in this - the ultrasharps are a bit more expensive, but come with USB-C hubs. Wonder what would be better for non-gamers.

      • The Dell U2721DE is only $645 using the above codes. I got this with similar codes back in June and it’s great. For the extra $138 I think it’s worth the price.

        • I wonder if it's better than this aside from the USB-C hub.

          • @poppingtags: Me too - what does the Ultrasharp designation give over this deal's monitor?

            • +1

@kiitos: Primarily, UltraSharps will have better colour calibration and good clarity, hence why designers and such like them. They used to be known for being a better quality panel, too, but I don’t know if that’s still the case.

    • Not just response time but it's only 60Hz as well

  • Can you VESA mount this on a monitor arm?

    • yes

      • Source? I asked their support and they said no

Edit: Support guy was wrong, User Guide says yes

  • Any review on this monitor? Understand this uses LG Nano panel.

    • it's been put for only a few days so not yet

  • My desktop is a few years old, a dell xps I think it has an 8gb gtx 1070.. do I need a better card to run this resolution/refresh rate? I don’t game on PC but will use it with my PS4 pro. I’ll be running this and an older 24” monitor which I’ll replace eventually

    • Nah I've been running 1440p at over 100fps consistently in most games with a 1070. If you want max settings and a locked 144hz+ then a new GPU that can do that should be just around the corner if your XPS allows GPU upgrades easily. PS4 Pro should work fine over HDMI. My understanding is that it puts out a 1440p image in most games. Freesync probably won't work at 30fps though.

      • Thanks. This deal is so tempting but reading more into this monitor it looks like it’s just been released, I’ll probably regret not getting it now but I think I might just wait for reviews

      • +1

        on low settings?

        • No Doom eternal is around 100fps on nightmare visuals with just a few settings turned down on my 8700k.

  • +1

Sorry for noob question, should I get this (IPS) or the S3220DGF curved screen (VA) as the main monitor; 75% productivity (CAD) and 25% light gaming. Thanks

    • +1

      Get two of the 27.

      • thanks mate, already have a 24" so i will change it to portrait while getting this on the landscape.

  • Guys if for ps5, I’d suggest to wait. PS5 may have ultrawide support.

    • +1

I find it extremely doubtful that the PS5 is going to have ultrawide support.

    • even ps4 did not support 2k, then I cancelled my order

    • PS5 also "supports" 8k.

  • +1

Been using an LG 29inch IPS ultrawide for 3 years now. And looking to upgrade to a bigger 34 inch with the popular Xiaomi Curved. But this one is really tempted. Not sure what to do now … Majority of my use is for entertainment and work (CAD). Not really hard core on gaming. Any advice guys?

    • Not sure about using CAD in a curved monitor, I am getting two. For CAD and some FPS games.

      • +2

i wont cad on a curve myself. tried it, hated it

        • is it just your personal taste or its some obvious inconvenience when cad on curved?

          • @dhleoz: I had a play with a demo PC hooked to a 27" curved screen, hated it

there are no 'straight lines', everything is crooked, used the PC for 5 minutes and had enough, must be a nightmare with CAD

            • @payton: oh thanks a lot mate. Never heard of that thing, thanks for the feedback!

        • Finally pulled the trigger on this Dell. Just for the sake of the bargain lol. Similar LG panel retailed for $850…

  • +1

Can you attach an vesa monitor mount to this?

    • +1

      Yes you can.

  • This seems to tick all the boxes. Anything against?

    • +1

      No! Place your order! xD

  • +6

Bugger! Ordered yesterday - gonna see it as a $26.73 premium for earlier delivery.

    • +5

Good mindset to have xD - makes it sting a lot less

  • Damn!! I just bought exactly the same one last night via this link https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/555525#comment!! $30 more!!

  • Not many reviews about this monitor yet

    • +3

Coz it literally just came out.

  • +1

Literally ordered it for $30 more one hour prior to this one being posted gah!

  • Really dumb question but my current PC wouldn't be able to handle gaming at 1440p - until I upgrade would it look terrible if I were to run games at 1080p on it? Would it look worse than a 24" at 1080p? Or similar?

    • Gaming at 1080p looks alright. It has a softer and more jaggy look but it's not unplayable. Even modest PCs can play older games at 1440p 144fps, and then many games also have a resolution scaler so you can run the monitor at 1440p but the game renders at a % of that resolution (i.e. 70%).

    • It won't look as sharp as 1080p monitor at 1080p. LCD monitors look the sharpest at their native resolution.

Most 1440p monitors are reasonably well optimised for 1080p nowadays, but you can still tell if you look carefully.

  • +2

Caved in, missus going to kill me… oh well, cant wait to get rid of my 1080p second monitor. 2x 1440p here I come!
Good to see that they include a DP cable this time. Only included HDMI cable for my S2719DGF monitor. Can be a bit of a hit and miss to find a good DP cable for 144hz +

    • Just told my wife I bought one. She was actually happy….not sure what to make of that.

      • You got a keeper there mate

      • +1

        It's a trap!

  • caved, thanks OP - good work!!

  • +6

I'm really glad I didn't pull the plug and buy it last night! Been looking for a monitor and this is perfect! I also had an extra $40 coupon so I got it down to $467.93!

    • damn!

    • Hey jayc29u, what was the $40 coupon you were using if you don't mind me asking?

      • I’m guessing it’s the 5% discount code Dell provided on his $800 purchase recently

        • it was a previous purchase code for $40. I tried to use it again but no bueno. :(

    • I got it down to $452.93 with my $55 off coupon (from a previous purchase)..

  • Goes to show, my procrastination over a new monitor was finally overcome by the other post for this monitor, didn't want to order on my phone, went to my PC and this post came up instead. Thank you OP!

  • The ECU5 code only discount with same value per purchase. So if you add more than 1 monitor you will end paying more than purchasing it twice. I have request for a cancellation for the previous 2 and also the 2 prior to that without this code. Cannot find support on Sunday so I have emailed them with the request for cancellation. If this failed I may end up with 6 monitors :(

    • may be too late for you, but for others thinking about saving ~$30 (per monitor), here is the returns policy

      https://www.dell.com/learn/au/en/aucorp1/policies-returns

the way I read it, they may charge a restocking fee for change of mind returns

      • I have returned before, they dont charge for change of mind

        • Do you still need to receive the item, my one is still in production, wondering if it could be cancelled rather than sent to me and return back? Thanks

          • @superlawrence: I have it when I changed my mind. I think you should be able to cancel it without it.

      • I have high hope with Dell. I have excellent past experience with them.

    • Will Dell charge restocking fee and delivery fee for change of mind?I need to cancel one without the 5%code as well, my order is already in production stage which means cannot cancel, have to call them tomorrow morning

  • My laptop has only one display port, is it possible to 'split' it two support two monitors?
