I'm looking for an upgrade for my old 6D.
Currently interested in the canon 5DS.
Overseas sites like Tecobuy, Toby deals, t-dimension or Becex tech are selling the camera for around $1500.
Australian sites like Parramatta, camerapro are selling it for $3000+.
BH photo from the US is selling for us$3000+.
Anyone has any ideas why HK sites are selling it so cheap? I thought $1500 is the price range for entry level full frame? It feels like the $3000 range is a more proper for this camera?
Am I missing something here? Should I pull the trigger at the $1500 price point for the 5DS?
My previous camera gears (including the old 6D) were all grey import and I never had any problem with them.
Thanks.
I'd say 6DMkII is the entry to full frame. The 5DS series were specifically "giant sensor" models aimed at a very specific market. The R5 mirrorless is aiming to take that spot in the lineup so I wouldn't be surprised if the 5DS gets discontinued in the near future.
But hey, if you can get a 5DS for $1500, I'd say jump at it.
