The Brightest White Grout? Davco, Ardex or Mapei?

Hi all,

Just wondering which of these is the "whitest" of the grouts? Tiles are bright white and tried Polar White and it looks pink, so need white..white.

Price wise from cheapeat
- Davco 5kg $19, 15kg for $22!
- Mapei 100 white 5kg $24
- Ardex Ultra White 5kg $28

Thanks

  • Anyone?? Am I in the wrong forum group?

I'm a tiler by trade and in my experience, this is the whitest you can get. It's much whiter than the ones you mentioned.

Really nice to use too, nice and smooth, not grainy like a lot of other grouts.

    • Hmm, can't source it locally and need asap. Any ideas of which of the above 3 are the whitest?

      • Beaumont tiles sell it locally where I am, maybe they do where you are too?

If not, I recall Mapei not being that white at all so avoid that. Davco grouts are not good, so you would be left with Ardex Ultra White. Make sure you get the FS-DD range, it's smoother and looks better.

        • Bugger, I took a chance and grabbed the mapie as online suggested it was the whitest. Turns out that reference was for their epoxy grout. No joy at Beaumonts. Davco too rough/ cracks ?

          • @tunzafun001: Too grainy, leaves an unsmooth finish which doesn't look good.

Try calling your local Construction Chemicals office (Adelaide (08) 8243 7888) on Monday who make the Kemgrout, they'll most likely put you in touch with someone locally who sells it.

It would be worth it IMO, it really is super white.

Like I said, avoid the Mapei, it is dull. We use that when a customer wants white grout but has an off-white tile.
