Help Me Pick a Used TV (Budget $300)

Hey everyone, I'm currently looking for a second hand TV. My budget is around $100~$300. Smart TV is a bonus but I don't really mind. 40"+ is also a bonus.

I only mainly use it for my switch and TV. Sometimes movie from the laptop. I don't know which beans to get or trust. Maybe you guys can help me here.

Edited: I'm in Sydney sorry for late reply

If you're budget is $300 max you don't really have much choice.

So from there, see what you can afford and pick the one you prefer.

  • Where are you?

  • I trust Heinz.

  • In this price range I would go gumtree. Make sure you see it working.

Maybe check your local aldi if there are any leftover stock from few weeks ago.

Buy a new one, even if it has to be a smaller one for now. You can always upgrade later and relegate the smaller one as a toilet TV.

    • Toilet TV. That's pretty funny.. not sure about others. But sometimes after work I come home and do my business and end up siting there for an hour also watching videos on my phone.

Soniq 40” LCD TV. $199 shipped. Pre-order at the moment.
I was going to get one but ended up getting a 50” FFALCON.

      Is Soniq tv any good?

      • I’ve got a 42” Soniq that I’ve had since I was a teenager. It’s just over 15 years old now and it’s still working great. It’s been moved to half a dozen houses and been knocked over a couple of times.
Maybe I got lucky because a lot of reviews are pretty negative on Soniq TVs now, or maybe their quality has gone down since I got mine.

How much would you rate the ffalcon tv? I've seen in jbhifi for cheap price?

      • Let me first say that I’m not a visual guy, I’m more of an audiophile and I spend more more on the audio side than I do on the visual side.
I currently have a 42” Soniq (15 years old), a 65” Aldi TV (couple of years old) and now the 50” FFALCON.
The 50” FFALCON looks great to me. It looks more “vivid” to me than my 65” Aldi.
I was originally going to wait for a sale on the FFALCON but my wife just wanted to buy it ASAP so we paid close to RRP ($485”).

    • Out of stock 😩😩

      • Ahhhhh damn. Not surprising for the price though.

  • On Gumtree I managed to get a 55" UHD for $200, only 6 months old. Seiki brand. Goes well.

    • Yeah that's what's I'm trying to do

Very high risk. If you do buy please don't start another post: spend $200 bought a 50"-60" UHD TV and broken after 1 month

  • Considering what an important device a TV is, and how often you use it, you should up your budget and get something with a warranty. $1000 would get you something decent on sale.
