Even the best and most expensive robot vacs are generally pretty crap - I can't imagine this one could be anything above abominable.

    • I think you haven't used roborock then

      • You're very perceptive.

      • I second RoboRock - not the most expensive by a long shot, but does such a good job. We run ours daily too. The map options are great - setup exlusion zones so it avoids the carpet with toys perpetually on it, and wet areas of the bathroom.
We had a Kogan one before the RoboRock and it was super bad - totally not worth whatever little it costs.

        • what's an entry level Roborock worth?

For just $99 what would one expect?

      Poor customer service, guaranteed!!

    • I agree.. spend a lot on one and save the kerfuffle of having to deal with a piece of junk!

  • The Deebot N79T is better, and its still garbage.

  • 1) I wouldn't trust anything 'smart' by Kogan that needs to be connected to an app
    2) I wouldn't buy a robot vacuum with the expectation it will replace your normal vacuum.

I have a Samsung powerbot vac that cost around $500. It is good to run a couple times a week to pick up pet hair but certainly doesn't replace the need for a proper vaccuum, as it will inevitably miss spots. I was originally looking at the cheapest robot vacs but happy I decided to go mid-range in the end. I think for $100 don't be surprised if it ends up a glorified floor decoration.

    • Yeah, just want a 'put a dent in it' machine. Got my $500 to spend at kogan. Must be something they have thats half decent.
Ps. We have a Kirby that does the real cleaning.
PPS. Seen a few Samsung robots going cheap second hand and considering. Anything to look out for?

Apparently some of the older samsungs won't connect with the Samsung smart things apps since they updated it. I'm talking models maybe 3-4 few years old, I stumbled across it on reddit. The only thing I have to be wary of with mine is cleaning it out after pretty much every run and double checking the roller. If you've got long haired persons in your household it's easy for the hair to wrap around the roller which will stop it working properly. It just requires diligence to flip it over and cut it off from the roller part before you run it.

Edit: Reddit link for reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/hek53t/i_now_o…

Also note, with the model I have the app connection wouldn't be such an issue as there is a regular on/off button that can be used.

  • It's their 2nd worst robot vacuum, goes around randomly and has really bad specs.

    • What's a good spec for under $250? Don't expect it to replace a real vaccum. The Samsung ones look well built, but seen a heap being sold for $50 second hand all with small issues alledgedly.
