Was looking for the cheapest way to renew my Office Microsoft 365 subscription, and found this at Bing Lee. For some reason they're charging the same for 15 months as they are for 12.

Works out to be the cheapest per month from what I can see, and I haven't seen the 15 month option anywhere else in Australia. I imagine if you do the enable auto-renew and turn it off you can make it 16 months.

      You haven't addressed cloud storage..

Yes; there are no school age children in our family; my employer does not participate in the home use program; SQL is better than Access but that's like comparing a machine gun to a shotgun; they are all garbage compared to Word and especially Excel.

Personally I use it largely for Outlook and the Onedrive storage. The rest of the family use the other apps more.

    • the truth you speak hurts so i will neg you

    • Do people still repeat the those same commentaries about MS Office?

      It's pretty clear:
Not everyone can get get this through school and work…
      Not everyone likes Office alternatives…

That's why people pay for software as most of them have free alternatives that are often not as good/friendly.

I have a subscription that I've been sharing with ozbargainers… Microsoft 365 and its 1TB per user worth every penny.

For those that have a family plan (6 user), how are they tied to the machines? One key per machine? Or does it tie them to whatever email is used for the MS Store account on each machine?

Reason being… I do have 6 computers I'd use it on, but if I reformat one… can I put it back on again without any issues?

    • +3

It's tied to the computer but you can deactivate it per machine online as needed.

It's also 30 licenses - six users, with five computers each. It's not communicated particularly well, but for your scenario, you would need to create a second Microsoft account, and invite it to be part of the family, and activate the sixth on that, or create a Microsoft account for each computer if they're used by different people. This way, they also each get their own Onedrive, the ad-free Outlook.com email etc.

      • Oh wow… I'll definitely be googling that for more information, thank you! I have 7 machines and figured I'd just install it on 6 of them, and my Office 2019 key on the remaining. If i can set it up like you've described, then all machines can get the 365 subscription :)

You can activate Office on 5 windows devices per account (and multiple mobile devices (not sure there's a limit)), the license is tied to the users email. You can activate and deactivate devices easy enough through the office portal.

  • Alternatively you could purchase an Office Key for much cheaper. If you don't require a ton of Onedrive storage, I'm paying $3 a month for 100GB of storage but it really depends on your personal use situation.

    • For a single computer it generally works out cheaper to buy Home and Student or Home and Business, particularly if you don't need Publisher or Access.

If you have multiple computers that need it, this works out to be cheaper in the long run, particularly if you have three or more.

  • Still says 12 months in the specs, might be a mistake

    • I activated the key purchased with this tonight and it activated for 15 months - expires in October 2021.

      • Nice!

      • Did you add it to your existing Family 365? Or was it a new Office 365 activation?

Anyone willing to share the plan, I only need 2 accounts.

  • Can you stack the codes?

    • I want to say yes, because the key I put in tonight added 15 months to my upcoming expiry.

But that could just be because the expiry was near.

      • +1

You can add as many renewals as you like,up to a maximum of 5 years (ie so expiry up until July 2025). I last picked up some a few years ago for $88 but with a $25 cashback on each one - so I think I'm good until 2023 or so.

    Didn't know Microsoft 365 offers 15month plans

      Windows 456.25
How many people actually need MS Office at home, or even at work?
Nobody at my work uses any of the programs beyond a very basic level.
The freebies like Libre will satisfy most needs but most have been taught they need MS Office.
I know knowing your way around Office it is a markable skill, but besides that, why?

I'm gaining negs but no answer to my why.

      • $129 for 15 months for 5TB of online cloud backup (OneDrive) is a good deal. The rest of office is a bonus.

        • I think it's actually 6*2tb backup so 12TB in total which makes it dirt cheap and excellent value

  • "12-month subscription
Enjoy 3 more months with purchase of qualifying product"

What does this qualifying product mean? Thanks.

    • It means you're buying it with a new computer.

    • If there is some kind of requirement for it, it wasn't enforced when I bought it.

    Google 'KMS_VL_ALL'. You're welcome :)

By that logic all software deals aren't deals if you can just use pirated licenses.

      • -2

It's not actually a pirated license, it's more of a 'emulation' of a legitimate license, something microsoft hasn't bothered to block since they care more about user data than subscription purchases ¯_(ツ)_/¯

        • It is a pirated license as you have no actual license that entitles you to use the product.

As it's a KMS product there would be no way for you as an ordinary user to get a license for it anyway, unless for some reason you were to a) find someone who would sell volume licenses to a non-business entity and 2) be willing to drop nearly $5000 on five ProPlus licenses.

I had MS remote in last week to help with my Office 2016 licence . After watching lots of Kit Boga on YT I was a tad nervous lol

  • Its $3 on ebay.co.uk just sayin..

    • I doubt a $3 license is a legitimate license.

      • +1

        .. for $3 it’s worth a try ???

        • It depends on your morality.
          Some don't eat meat.
Some don't eat anything that's had anything at all to do with an animal.
Some say we must respect the system of laws that enable the creation of this zenith of human achievement, aka MS Office.
Some say take what you can get and give nothing back.
Ye, give it a go,,,… some would say.

  • Have they fixed this? I can't see anywhere on Bing Lee's site that says 15 months. Only says 12 months

  • Ordered this but I got a Business Key

If your product key is for Microsoft 365 Business or other business products, redeem it at office.com/setupkey.

    • They gave me a new key and working fine now with 15 months

  • My key is invalid, just been chatting with MS support for the last 30 mins. It contains Characters that are not in the normal Office/Microsoft 365 Product Key activation Database!
I have obviously checked the normal B/8 S/5 I/1 etc. issues!

    • Same here. I am emailing Bing Lee, hoping to get a refund.

      • Same here mailed them

    • I got on the live chat with Bing Lee customer support. This is what they told me: "This is actually an issue that's popped up a lot within the last day or so and its currently being investigated. You'll be notified within the next 24 hours."

      • Received a new key and it's good for 15 months.

    • Same here and key is invalid.

  • Is this different from Microsoft Office 365 Home which used to be around 80$ mark?

    • Same basic product but there's now six users instead of five and possibly a few other additions. I know they're working on adding Teams for Families at some point soon.

      • Then isn't it still the same 80$ price on SaveOnIt when on sale?

        • When I posted, it was cheaper per month than SaveOnIT was.

This is active again now, but the price has gone up to $129, SaveOnIT is currently $99 for 12 months so they're ~44 cents per month cheaper than Bing Lee is presently.

          • @douglasac10: Sorry for not being clear.

Yes I understand it's the best price now. But if not in a hurry maybe we can wait for the usual sale to come back at 80+? Or do you reckon that price won't come back any more?

            • @huubang: Unless there's a drop in the RRP, I don't think we'll see $80 Family licenses again any time soon.
