The did cut a few corners though, mainly the port selection and the lack of a webcam. A USB 2.0 port shouldn't exist on a $1000 laptop…
No webcam is beyond stingy, would have probably cost them 50c.
Maybe it helps the screen to body ratio?
@parker2004au: If they absolutely had to having it at the bottom of the display like the old XPS 'up the nose-cam' is better than nothing.
Otherwise seems good on paper, may as well go for the maxed specs version since it's only a little more.
TBH web cams are rarely used these days. Most remote meetings I do on my phone while still keeping my laptop free for work. IMO the more significant corner that has been cut is the slow RAM. Very nice screen for the price though.

(How big would it have to be to house 65 or more megawatthours worth of charge? For reference, if my desktop ran at the 650W PSU's rated wattage, such a battery would let it run at full noise for 100 hrs on a single charge…)
good price for the Redmi book. Would be a lot closer to pulling the trigger if the RAM speed issue was resolved with a BIOS update.
Gearbest Will cheerfully rip you off
Purchase a phone of gearbest, was DOA, they refused to help. Had to go through Paypal. Beaware buying anything expensive. Warranty is likely to be a massive headache
