Kogan Sending out Cheap Webcams Instead of Logitech G903 Mice

Absolutely embarrassing from Kogan to think they can get away with it, and they are also shipping through Amazon!!

According to comments from this
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/553647

has happened to more people and its absolutely embarrassing, both from Kogan and Amazon.
I bought this 16/07 only to receive today 27/07 and i received a logitech c270 webcam instead of a g903 mouse!!
I wasted my time, now i have to do the effort and send it back and wait to get reimbursed!!! I'm fuming…..

Absolutely pathetic

It's a logistics issue, it happens. As long as they fix the error then it's not a big deal.

    Also, don't support Kogan.

Has happened to many people, they do it on purpose.

      • +6

I dislike Kogan's practises intensely but I highly doubt it's on purpose.

Read the comments here. Happened to many people

@nikoris: That doesn't mean it's intentional. Looks like they've got a stocking issue and sending out the wrong product. Think of it like the mouse barcode is on cameras so those get automatically dispatched in error.

They're far too large a company to need to scam people for ~$30 a pop with this potential negative press. Even Amazon themselves have done this in the past. Mistakes happen, how they fix those mistakes is how you judge them.

Good luck with their crap customer support though. Don't support Kogan.

Same can be said here, yet they did scam people

@nikoris: Indeed, price jacking is one of the many reasons not to use Kogan. Along with grey market products, poor customer service, profiteering during pandemic etc.

Still don't think bait and switch on a mouse is intentional.

That would explain the ultra low price, they never intended to send the real thing
Or made a mistake and found a 'cheap' way out of it

@nikoris: You will get your item. You're getting emotional.

I get the disappointment and the anger at now waiting longer to get the correct item. But put things in perspective. There is no foul play here, not even fowl play, just a plain old inventory error of some kind.

I m not getting emotional, im trying to educate people. I couldnt care less about a gaming mouse or not.

I get the disappointment and the anger at now waiting longer to get the correct item.

Im not 14, i have no 'disappointment' or 'anger' because i dont have the mouse. I only care to let people know.

I get the disappointment and the anger at now waiting longer to get the correct item.
                      smh

@nikoris: There's no way Kogan would do this on purpose. It'll cost them money, not save. There's no win situation for Kogan here.

@iDroid: christ I hate Ruslan as much as the next guy but not that nikoris guy

Kogan will be losing money at then end of the day by paying return postage AND the wasted employee hours receiving the webcams back and putting them back into inventory AND giving out coupons to compensate customers.

i've been in his shoes in warehousing and its not fun… at all

  • Yep unfortunately bricks n mortar all the way. Only using Kogan for the $500 free credit from their CC..

    • You got $500 credit?

Looks like max available is $400 atm - https://www.koganmoney.com.au/credit-cards/kogan-money-black…

I am considering this as a churn and burn CC, been a while since I've done it for airline points and I already have a shit ton tucked away on Krisflyer.

Any hidden nasties with the Kogan CC?

      • Yep, when it was first released.
        This bad boy.
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/500834

No real downside to it (looks like it's only $200 at the moment for $4000 spend)

But yeah, if you're not keen on FF points go for it.

Only annoying this is obviously Kogan.

        • Looks simple enough, currently considering purchasing a robot vac so will just get this CC, meet the min spend requirements, get the robot then cancel it.

Nothing silly like needing to wait 12 months for Kogan credit to be applied or anything?

The free Kogan first membership is nice touch too.

          • @gaz3342: The kogan credit takes ages to come through i think it was 3 months after making the spending criteria so unfortunately no immediate cancellation with this one. Also read somewhere the card may be linked to the credit so cancelling the card cancels your credit. Although I may be wrong.

Hold on to that camera, might be worth a mint if we go into full lockdown again and there is no stock nationwide. LOL.

    • I'm surprised they even had the webcams in stock.

  • +6

Another day, another Kogan problem, yet people still buy from them.

    • -2

Why not, it was almost half price compared to retail and shipped through amazon

      • +6

Why not? Because you got a webcam instead, and now you have to deal with them trying to return it etc. You must not value your time very highly.

        • -2

          lol wut?

          • @nikoris: I do get the kogan hate but almost every retailer out there has issues.

Every order I've had with kogan was fulfilled as expected. You gotta be kidding yourself if you think a billion dollar company got there by doing this regularly.

This is an anomaly. I wish it wasnt to be honest.
