Perhaps add 16 x 355ml cans in the title

      Gotcha.
Guess we can't even agree nationally on how big a schooner is, so I'm not surprised this is a 'case'

What ever happened to cased and slabs of 24, and blocks of 30, reminds me of Sepplets making bottles smaller from 750ml to 500ml rather than raising prices,

guess case of 16x355ml at $60 sounds better than slab of 24x355ml at $90.

    • Craft beer usually comes in cases of 16, and also cans are normally 330ml and not 355-375ml

I wouldn't say usually - the majority still rock 24s. I find it a really frustrating trend when I was working in the bottleshop, as everything is set up for boxes of 24 - having to deal with irregular slabs is a pain in the arse.

The reduction of case size from 24 down to 16 and the downsizing of cans is purely marketing and cost saving. It allows a unit to be advertised at a cheaper price which hopefully won't put buyers off i.e. advertising a 'slab' for $60 is better than $80 even if it's for reduced volume.
Plenty of other craft breweries still sell 24 can/bottle slabs and >330ml cans/bottles. No surprises though that the coca-cola owned Pirate Life is employing the above tactics.

Sorry it's ABInBev not Coke that owns Pirate Life.

      • Only in Australia. It’s a tactic to appear similarly priced as normal beer. It distorts the market in my opinion. It’s not really craft brewers fault due to the tax regime but it still pisses me off.

      Too high?

        Too high?

        Not on one can unfortunately….

  • Have these gone down hill since selling out?

    • +4

No, they still make some great high end gear and limited releases

    • Are you kidding? They went downhill faster than a fat guy in a wheelie bin

      Still making great beer.

My opinion - the special releases are still good but the garden variety beers leave a lot to be desired. I haven't tried this one though.

      • agreed, iirc this one doesn't taste like craft beer.

The pirate, pirate "drinks and smokes"

  • Thanks OP, grabbed a couple for my beer club 👍 hopefully their Tuesday Happy Hour brings some good ales tomorrow too.

Works out at 58.5 a true carton (of 24) which imho is not bad. Haven't tried this particular one but happy to add it to the stash!!

    • I concur. I'm going have a crack at it, price is pretty decent.

  • You can also use code PIRATE39 for the same deal ($39 for 16).

Also spend more than $75 and get free shipping- just buy 2.
