I'm an essential worker who takes public transport. We are required to wear masks during our shifts but that means I go through a few masks a day. I've been trying to source a few reusable masks but it's financially hard. Does anyone know of any organisations I can contact to see if I can get a few free reusable masks? Thanks guys.

Yeah, "essential" workers.
I can understand extending it past health care workers and the like. Supermarket staff and take aways need to keep people supplied. Transport workers are required to move supplies and people. Certain retail I can understand, if your fridge breaks you need to replace it. Even computers/phones so I can understand JB and Harveys being considered essential.
Glad I'm not in the US though, Gun stores were considered essential by Homeland Security
"essential" worker = can't work from home. Your 711 worker is essential, so its your KFC/Maccas worker too.
Walk into Woolworths not wearing one and they will hand you one.
Add Apple stores to the list. They’ll give customers a free face mask and temperature check.
Not sure about free but if you can find any stock online, happy to order to your local shop for pickup if it helps.

Why are you going through a few masks a day? One disposable should last you at least a shift.
OHS at some work places dictates disposable masks get changed preferably every 3hrs with a max of 4hrs. Once a mask is removed for a break it is to be disposed of and a new one donned.
You’re using it wrong if you’re using one for the whole day.
Go to the nearest apple store for "browsing" and get free mask.
Get yourself two reusable masks for your commutes and wash them each night. Do not reuse the morning one for your evening commute.
You might consider getting four masks in the event they don’t dry.

I stock shelves and work at the check out at a small grocer
Your work must provide all PPE. It's a Worksafe thing, like earplugs or eyeshields.
there's HEAPS of people on facebook offering free material masks. My wife is a nurse, and she has gotten them steadily over the last few days from there
I tried my local Rough Trade group on Facebook but no one there had any. Could you let me know where I should be looking?

Didn't know it was mask harvest season and we have a surplus.

My reusable mask cost me the same as a large Bic Mac meal. I don't think anyone is too poor to be able to afford one.
DIY? Spotlight said they're giving out free templates in their recent email newsletter or you can just download one off the internet.
Call the ATO to see if they are a tax deduction and then keep receipts
I would have thought that, as an essential worker, your employer would be providing masks for your use within the workplace and for to and from work.
