PC Graphics Cards GPU recommendations - 2 or 3 fans?

Hey Ozbargainers,

Currently building a new PC from scratch. My current plan is:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X (to be purchased)
RTX 2070 Super (to be purchased)
ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570 Plus (Wi-Fi) ATX Motherboard
Corsair Venegence Pro 3200MHz 2x16GB (purchased)
Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB NMVe (purchased)
HDD (to be purchased)
Antec NX800 ARGB Fans E-ATX Mid-Tower Case (purchased)
Cooler Master V1200W Fully Modular 80 PLUS Platinum Gaming PSU (purchased)

I am quite unsure about the GPU, if it is better to have 2 fans or 3 fans. Is there any reasons why one is favoured over the other? I'm currently looking at two particular ones, attached with their prices available for me:

MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 2070 Super Dual (2 fans) = $760 Link

VS

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Super Gaming (3 Fans) = $820 Link

Also, does my PC setup look alright? Any opinions feel free to comment down below.

Thank you :))

    Really depends…

Such as 2 big fans vs. 3 small ones
    Noise
    Fan speeds

Usually people go bigger fans > amount of them

I've actually owned variants of both of these. There was pretty bad coil whine in the MSI one which I found much worse than the fan noise. I might have just been unlucky though.

I didn't notice a huge difference in fan noise so I think you're okay with either design.

    • Thanks so much for that, really helps. Perhaps a faulty one? Really contemplating if it’s worth the extra $60 for Gigabyte.

Yes. I am a big fan of GPU's. Especially in a computer.

You could argue one is gonna be louder / cooler than the other but it's almost pointless to compare
i'd save the $60 and put it towards a good monitor ( if you do not already have one ) and excellent build, good luck !!!!

I picked up this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/548690 and it's super quiet with a custom fan curve.

Ryzen 4xxx series and Nvidia 3xxx series about to drop, kinda pointless buying hardware at the moment (unless it's a bargain)!

number of fans wont matter much overall as they can have different efficiency, it matters even less if you do not overclock the card. If your case has good airflow it shouldnt matter much either way.

First off, get a card that gets rid of the heat outside the case, not inside,
secondly, if it is a long card, then get 3 fans; the manufacturer knows best how many fans a card should have.
Do what I do and get a big case fan and point it towards the GPU
