Why were you looking for two of them?

    • +16

I need 32 of them as wallpaper for the bathroom

    • +8

Twin Xbox setup for the kids.

        • +3

Why is it shit, I purchased one the weekend and it has very low input lag and great black tones.

@[Deactivated]: He is right… Last years superseded model (RU8000) was better in many ways. RU8000 is 120Hz and the TU8000 is only 60Hz. Samsung downgraded all of their TV lines this year, it seems they are attempting some sort of market re-alignment.

            • +1

@WowBargain: 60hz is all I needed it for personally. 4k, 60hz with a nice crisp image. The HDR is however somewhat unnoticeable (in fact I have no idea if it's on at all) when I check the signal it just tells me it's at 3840x2160, no mention of UHD. I'm only using it as a media room TV for occasional NVIDIA TV Gamestream, I've just replaced a 120hz Sony Bravia 1080p and I don't think we ever used the 120 option in there. If I want fast really crisp gaming images I go to my gaming rig and play on 5120x1440p.

          • @[Deactivated]: Very low refresh rate / FPS. Good with older cheaper consoles but will likely be obsolete with any newer generation serious gaming setup. Expensive TVs should be long term investments. Unfortunately not everyone can have a separate super-powered gaming rig. May as well saved some more money and looked for the RU7100 model from last year or even RU8000 which would have been better than this one.

            • @bigbadboogieman: I don't see the new gen doing any better than 4k (proper 4k) and 60fps either tbh. I'll be investing in a better 4k projector for movies before I invest in another TV.

                • @bigbadboogieman: Sorry I mean on games that are graphically taxing, the ones you are upgrading for such as Cyberpunk. You're not going to be running that at 120fps unless it's takes a massive hit in graphics. MS saying that the new Xbox will do that is like Sony saying that the PS4 was a 4k games machine.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Buying an expensive TV a person would want it to last atleast 5 - 6 years. I am sure there would be games at 120fps if the console supports it. The tech development/improvement graph is an upward curve.

60Hz display will ensure your kids get dumpstered by everyone else. And they're sitting there wondering why everyone is saying git gud

        • +6

How many console games play faster than 60fps and if you're on PC competitively gaming why are you on a TV at all šŸ˜‚

  • how is this better than a tcl c715? in price and performance, image quality, features, OS, warranty
    all the above TCL outperforms

    • How much is tcl c715? I want Android TV so Samsung and LG are out.

      • Why android tv vs lg or sammy?

        • +1

I dont know about TCL but this is the lowest of the 2020 Samsung. Pretty much this is the bottom of the base level. Not bottom of Quantum dot range but bottom overall. So take from that what you will.

          • +4

@Fuzor: Samsung cashing in on their brand.

        • Basically… Apps.

At this point in time, there are more apps developed and available for Android than webOS(LG) or Tizen OS(Samsung).

I went in to JBs on the weekend pretty set on the TCL C715… But it seemed to look considerably worse than the Samsungs in person despite it being QLED. Sub pixel layout was generally pretty jarring for me. Flat shapes/text just looked very unsharp, even from a fair distance. There was an obvious quality/sharpness discrepancy vs other panels.

Then comparing the Samsung TU8000 to the Samsung Q60 side by side… There really was no comparison. The poor color gamut was painful on the TU8000, so I went with the Q60. Lots of people shit on the Q60 online, but we don't have many better alternatives for that price range on AU Market.

      • This is a great point, specs and reviews are one thing but actually looking at the same content side by side on different TVs is what matters.

RTings Video review. I was wondering if this would be a good TV for me. Now I know to keep looking.

    • yep. waiting on a proper q8 hisense deal

  • How would this compare to the TCL deal the other day?

    • +1

Had a look at specs. TCL will perform better with HDR as it has much more acceptable brightness levels. This peaks at around 270 nits for HDR.

    • that tcl P model its not qled, the C715 or c815 is what you wana get, but again the Q8 from hisense tops them all with FALD and over 140 dimming zones where as the tcl are both edge lit QLED

  • How do these compare with one of the last good quality plasmas? (E.g. Kuro). Ideally would like an OLED to replace mine but the $$$ is huge.

    • +1

Major downgrade. Save up, wait for special, then buy quality and enjoy the view.

  • Tu8000 is no good than old Ru8000. Check review online.

    • bro the ru7100 is better than the tu8000, it was not released to compete with ru8000 it was a direct replacement for the ru7100 with more features cut, so the ru7100 is a better tv if you can find any.

  • The 75" is $1791 delivered.
I compared the TCL C815 and the Samsung in store and the Samsung beat it hands down.

    • I did the exact same thing and compared the two. I was initially after the TCL P715 but the display one at The Good Guys was C815. I asked the staff about it and he said the C815 is heaps better as it was QLED. While we were talking I glanced the Samsung TU8000 55" for $995 and wondered what the hype is all about with TCLs. The "shit/step down from last year/ripoff" Samsung TU8000 displayed images heaps better than $1495 C815. Who knows how the P715 will even compare. Now I know that you have to see it for yourself before you buy into the crowd.

  • I wouldn't recommend the TU8000. Very poor color gamut and low peak brightness makes it not a very good panel. Go look at it side-by-side in store and you'll be shocked at how much worse it actually is vs Samsungs slightly more expensive QLED line.

    • +1

I looked at this panel in store with a pile of other screens and this looked legit good. It looks good at home also.

  • Still looking for a good deal on a 75er

  • +1

Got this for $1054 with EPP and $50 sign-up

Tried to convince my friend to go for something else but they wanted a cheapy.

    • You get what you pay for, I think all ozbargainers understand that.

For the price and the size this is a pretty good TV.
