Belong New $80 Pack Question

Hi,

My mobile plan is about to finish up and I was looking at going to Belong again.
There are $80 Belong Sim Starter Packs on sale for <$40

My question is, when activating the $80 Sim Starter pack, can I go onto the $10 p/m mobile plan? (8 months worth of service)

I'm looking to do the following,

Option 1

  • Buy $80 Sim Pack (<$40)
  • Activate using referral code ($20 credit)
  • Choose $10 p/m
  • Get 10 months of service

Total: $100 for 10 months of service for <$40

Is this possible or would I have to do,

Option 2

  • Buy $40 Sim Pack ($20)
  • Activate using referral code ($20 credit)
  • Choose $10 p/m
  • Get 6 months of service

Total: $60 for 6 months of service for $20

Is there anything else I'm missing? eg.

  • Buy my sibling a SIM ($2)
  • Use their referral code (Them $20, me $20)

Sibling - Gets 2 months free service + gift their data to me since they use only wifi
Me - One of the two options

Also, would be going to buy data for $0.30/$0.40 p/GB so 70gb for $21/$28 or so

    Yes, absolutely correct, you can order a free belong sim, active with referral codes from your relatives for more credits, cancel them later. For option 1, I would find cheaper deals on marketplace, gumtree who do not need the 80$ pack, normally they sell around 20-30$.

      Hi, I've read the Whirlpool wiki prior to posting and wanted to know, when you register for a SIM, there's a promo code section. That promo code section isn't where someone would put their referral code right? That happens during activation process? (I assume online sim activation?)

        Yes, that for extra 20$ credit when you put a referral code.

          You enter the referral code in the promo section?

          Or yes to, when you activate, there's a referral section to put in the referral code?

    go option 1 and buy data off facebook market place. Ive seen data being sold for as low as .5/Gb. $40 + 100gb (assuming .5/gb) = $90 for the year with 112GB

      Sorry, but 50c/GB is expensive as. Check on the classifieds here, usually goes for 35 to 40c/GB.

    If you read the Whirlpool wiki on Belong, it explains how to get double data when you join by choosing to sign up in between billing cycle days.
    If you want to start with a lot of data, you can sign up for the $40 plan, receive 2 lots of 40GB data then step down to $10/month plan once you have your 80GB.

    There are $80 Belong Sim Starter Packs on sale for <$40

    Where can I buy these ? They seem like a much better option than the $40 packs currently on sale for $20 at Officeworks & Australia Post.

    Heads up there’s no more $10 plan for new sims. Only existing customers can swap from today. $25 for 10gb and $40 for 40gb are the only plans you can select

      New customers can move to the $10 plan after the 1st payment date, they just can't activate on it.

      Once you've signed up, you'll be able to change over to the $10 plan at the start of your next billing month.

        Activation date and payment date are different right?

        If I activate the $40 plan on the one of the “off cycle billing days” - can I get the 40gb and change to the $10 plan?

          Yes they are different if you don't activate on a payment date. See this post under Double Data for payment dates.

          Yes that's the way I think it works - you will get double data on your 1st payment date then should be able to change to $10 plan after that.

              @scanuck: No, the Belong link above says you'll be able to change over to the $10 plan at the start of your next billing month. So that means you won't be able to pay $10 at the start of your 1st billing month.
