Just to put things into context I got this for $1000 less just after Christmas from VideoPro on eBay, plus I got a $250 voucher for webjet.com as well.

with 50mm lens? If it is true that is crazy

      • Ok, fair enough, I missed that. The lens should go for about $750 on eBay if you don't want it so it's not bad considering the price rises.

        • Someone bought two at that time. Smart move.

    • I chose the BCF… still not used.

  • Camera prices have gone up significantly in the last 6 months due to the foreign exchange rate, feelsbad.

    • I reckon COVID-19 must also be a direct factor, seems to be hitting Nikon hard with delays etc.

      • Nah, they jumped before COVID. Also the 'exchange rate' hasn't significantly changed in the 3 or 4 years before the price jump.

    • I know they reset annually but the FX argument by Nikon et al is absolute BS. Other than the brief drop in March and subsequent recovery, AUD has been relatively stable. If that’s the cause, they need to manage it better.

Same offer over and price at Amazon. Not sure if Digidirect is a similar offer, but Amazon also applies to purchase of the Z7 as well.

Note no cashback with Amazon for cameras.

    • I believe that any Nikon authorised retailer will have the same offer regarding the lens redemption.

    • Nikon won't honour your warranty from Amazon.

Well they should do seeing at they are listed on the Nikon website as an authorised retailer. Obviously this does not cover random 3rd party sellers who are not authorised retailers but if it is Amazon AU or someone like digidirect selling on Amazon then they are legally required to honour the warranty and if it was me I would be taking them to the relevant Fair Trading authority.

    • Just bought off Amazon, thanks OP and @Shads.

  • For those wanting 4K 60P and other new features, the Z6S will be released around October. Still a ways off.

    • This Z6 deal is likely to be a much better offer. Only plus of the Z5 is two card slots I think, otherwise it is similar to Z6 but with some degraded specs (much lower FPS, worse screen, etc).

    • why would anyone get a z5 + 24-200 for 3589 when you get get z6 + 24-70 + 50 for 3304?

  • Oh man, this looks so good.

  • This does look sweet but a tad above budget. I've been recently looking for something with nice Video recording capability but still able to take nice stills as well. Not a professional by any means!

I previously owned a 3200 and was pretty happy with Nikon.

    Any recommendations?

I don't really know much about video but I think going with a cheaper Nikon would significantly hurt the video capabilities. The Z6 is meant to be one of the best cameras around for video and the lenses are meant to be good for it too.

      • Yup - watched a couple of vids and it seems the Z Series is Nikons entrance to that market.
Alot of pros are suggesting the Sony instead because of the wide range of lenses.

        Ill keep looking. Thanks Luke!

  • what a (profanity) bargain, got my z6 + 24-70 F4S for 3 grand. had to purchase the 50mm separately for another 850. Both discounted prices.

  • Cant see anything about the "Z 50mm f/1.8 S" (that Z a typo?) , what am I missing?
