This would be good if you have an old dead 360 but want to install the hard drive in the slim console. If you don't want the hard drive flopping around, you can get a case from ebay for a few bucks.

Doesn't come with Kinect though.

    isn't kinect bundle like $269?

sell the kinect shit on ebay and profit?

    • +2

      Flip, really? Where from?

    • Only problem is that kinect bundle doesn't come with a seperate power adaptor for the kinect, which is needed if you want to plug it into the older xboxes.

      • -3

You're buying an xbox with it? Why would you need a power adapter for another xbox when you're getting one with it?!?!?!

        • They were talking about selling it.

        • You could still sell it?

        • Yeah, but the market is limited as it would only appeal to XBOX 360 S owners, not older 360 owners.

        Pros:
        -Halo! :)
        -MC Extender
        -XBOX Controller > PS3 Controller
-having something to compete with PS3 keeps prices down :)

        • +9

LOL! Gees fanboy wars get ridiculous cos no one wins! :D

        • +1

I've got both and I primarily buy games for the Xbox because the controller is so much better. Sony really needs to update the design of the PS controllers. And those awful trigger buttons!

        • keeping prices down is a beatufil arguement!

          controller comes down to preference

          whats mc extender??

        • whats mc extender??

Extremely powerful…allows you to control Windows Media Centre on a pc using the Xbox, meaning you can access the pc's tuners and PVR functionality etc ; )

        • Gears of war :)

Hey, I thought this was Oz Bargain. You know, that site where people come to find cheap prices on things such as electronics. I didn't know this was a place for opinions that don't matter!

        PS3 fanboy trolling -_-

      • Seriously, are you 12?

          Yes i am…-.-

I have all three current gen consoles and after spending a few years with both the PS3 and the 360 I can safely say that I prefer the Xbox.

        • I know you pay for online but XBL is a much better service than PSN (and seriously it's only about $3.50 a month if you know where to look).
        • In terms of gaming, the consoles are pretty much equal except it seems like the PS3 lacks any anti-aliasing so games tend to be a bit jaggier than on the Xbox.
        • The controller is definitely a personal preference thing. I was a fan of the Dualshock all through the PS1/PS2 days up until MS released the Xbox S controller (downsizing from the truly beastly launch controller on the original Xbox). The 360 controller is even better and I seriously prefer it over the Dualshock 3 (though the D-Pad is AWFUL, I barely use it anyway). I find that the Dualshock 3 suffers terribly in FPS games as the triggers are really strange (they are angled too far downwards so your fingers kind of slip off)
        • The Xbox's lack of a BD drive is it's biggest downfall. I use the PS3 mostly as a media centre as it is very good for streaming and stuff (and obviously includes a BD drive).
        • Kinect is a total gimmick and I will likely never buy it. However some of the thing people are doing with it off the Xbox (programming stuff for it on the PC) is a lot more interesting than anything that can/will be done with the move.
        • My final point - which is one of the most important for me - is that the Gamerscore system feels much more rewarding than the Trophy system.

I don't know why I gave you the time of day after your crappy -33 voted comment, but I felt like I needed to set the record straight. PS3 vs Xbox is a matter of opinion.

    • where? i want that bundle.

    • where is the kinect bundle 269?

  • matte or shiny?

  • damn, i wonder what dvd drives do these have

    • Liteon 1214

      • Hi are u 100% sure?

i'm try to get a x360key which not works on this drive.

        thanks

        • Yes I'm sure. The xbox is the latest release with the newest drive firmware.
I'm awaiting the same thing, there will be an update soon for this firmware hopefully.

        • Really, the x360key don't work well with HDD? I note an x360key install guide article on the net, it seems that the x360key can works well, here is the guide link:
          http://www.fyygame.com/news/X360key-Install-Guides/

      • no, it's the Liteon DG16D5S

  • Definitely matte

  • Anyone know if its possible to replace the 4GB HDD with a separately bought 250GB one?

    • the 4gb is an inbuilt flash memory, the slot is still available for the 250gb hdd

  • NM

  • Is it possible to use an external hdd via usb to install legit games onto?

    I have a spare portable 2.5" 160Gb usb hdd that I don't use.

    • Yes and no, but from the way you asked, more no. I've been researching this for a couple of days and the updates let you use up to two USB drives (max 16 GB each) at a time as secure storage (saves, game installs, etc). You can use a USB drive with a higher capacity, but the console will just create a 16GB partition on it for its own use, and leave the rest to use as normal. Apparently you can use as many USB drives as you like, but you can only have 2 connected at a time. I don't believe that it's possible to put multiple 16GB partitions on the one physical drive and switch between them, either.

And on a similar topic, if you look through the official XBox 360 forums, you can find a few posts from official Microsoft service reps saying that it's definitely against the terms & conditions of purchase/XBox Live use to put anything other than an official XBox 360 Slim 250GB drive into the 4GB model. This even includes taking an official original XBox 360 HDD and putting it into a new enclosure. That being said, I couldn't actually find a single instance of anyone claiming to have personally been banned for doing this, and also it appears that MS can only find out about it if you have the unofficial drive installed while you're on XBox Live, so you could theoretically have one, but just pull it whenever you want to go online. That makes it hard (or maybe impossible) to store any XBox 360 DLC on the HDD, though, which often apparently requires you to be signed in to Live to run.

I actually have 2 x 16GB usb sticks as well. One is a usb thumbdrive and the other is an SD card in a usb adapter. I hope they will be enough to install one game each on them (BF:BC2 and BF:3) which I'll be playing on Live.

I was thinking of re-using a 250gb hdd from an original xbox360 but not if it might get me banned from Live. Chances are that I will forget that it's connected and then go on Live.
When the 250GB xbox slim hdd eventually gets cheap enough then I'll probably get one then.
        Thanks for the info.

        • A lot of users have used the old xBox HDD into the new ones. The fake ones for 43 dollars are also being used by many users online and no issues. I think concerns for Microsoft is for modding the xbox and not the HDD. It is the storage afterall. Read threads on WP

I have attached my 8 GB USB drive to the xBox slim. but the problem is when i restart the xBox, it has to be formatted again and anything stored is gone. I dont know why.

        • I use a 250 gb drive I bought online cheaply in my 4gb matte black slim console, I know its fake and have not had any trouble with live for the 2 months I've been using it.

If Microsoft want to ban me, then I'll be free to use my xbox for anything else that would have also have me banned from their service. Sony allow and even give directions on how to upgrade the drive to whatever will fit, Microsoft are just money grabbing. A different drive other than official will cause no problems other than them not getting another wad of $ from consumers.

I picked one up last night, in a bit of a comedy of errors. I'll spare everyone the details, but I was told twice that Big W didn't sell any such item, and that the closest thing they had was a 4GB Kinect bundle. By calmly repeating that it was in their catalogue and that I had called earlier to confirm stock levels, I finally got them to look at their catalogue, after which they actually started looking for the item in the stockroom, and found it in very short order.

So, you may have some difficulty getting one at first, because aside from this deal, I haven't seen the stand-alone 4GB units around for a while. I think that they may be getting phased out in favour of the Kinect bundle.

  • I have a wasabi 360 on one of my slims, it's like the xkey but much faster (esata vs USB2) also you can change games without getting up, works with all the latest games. Battlefield3, Gow3, batman ect.
