How to
There are some comments where people got the laptop price matched to the education price by reaching out to the customer service rep.
If customised, the estimated delivery would change to 4-8 weeks
Otherwise?
Otherwise 3 months ;)
:) Have been hearing a lot on their delivery commitments
Hmm my price for those components is $1202, how did you get that price?
You need to enter the ecoupon to get it down to the price. I ordered the same spec one from the education store for $1004.
Oh right, I'm blind haha. I am on mobile completely missed that.
It is strange, my price is 1047.02 after entered the ecoupon…..
That's the price for 8gb ram and 256gb ssd. Cost $859 through education store.
Only problem with it is 45 NTSC
And the shipping haha
What does 45 NTSC mean?
Colour reproduction compare to actual colour. For more information do google or wiki. Must for designers.
If only the screen size was smaller :(
There's way better deals for smaller ones.
Nice screen size, I will use it mainly at home to watch movies and surf internet. Not sure about playing games like civilization though
This screen only has 2/3 as much colour gamut as a regular screen. Everything will look dull and grey. Playing demanding titles will also be tough on an iGPU, even an AMD one.
Graphic Card : Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics
Never any $1k~ laptops with dedicated graphics card. Ugh!
Even Ryzen + at least GTX1650 combination?
Which?? Before the pandemic I had eyed off the Asus TUF but prices have soared.
Asus Tuf is $1100 at Umart.

It's not exactly the best, but it is $1k for a competent GPU
BEWARE of the shipping time. Order if you are happy to wait about 3 months.
Not a bad deal for <1.2k.
I ordered our ideapad slim last month on the 20/07 thru Education portal. It indicated 8 weeks for the package to arrive, but I received the laptop on the 17/07 - So almost a month after ordering.
Also, Lenovo emailed me that they cannot process deliveries with "parcel collect" addresses as they send their parcels thru Expeditors + DHL (not sure the mechanics behind this). They told me this a day after my order went thru so my order was stuffed up. Lenovo had not updated my parcel delivery address and, so added +4 days to the delivery coz DHL did not attempt to call or contact me.
Pretty happy with the IdeaPad Slim 5(15) Ryzen 7 so far.
So you ordered on 20/07 and got it delivered on 17/07! ;-)
haha good pickup, my bad, 20/06. I need a coffee now.
How is the battery life of this laptop ?
Battery is crap…even brand new, it last around 3h max…useless if u have a long day school.
For long battery go for intel i3 i5 u series.
AMD 4000 gets better battery life than i3/i5
The E495 I have lasts ~3-5 hours. This one has a much more efficient CPU, maybe 5-7 hours.
250 nits screen.
good or bad?
Total Memory : 8GB Soldered DDR4-3200 + 8GB SO-DIMM DDR4-3200
I wonder if this actually runs in dual channel or not….
Yeah it does :-)
What about if you plan to upgrade the ram later on, do you need the exact same type of ram or will any ddr4-3200 ram work in dual channel?
I wouldnt recommend adding more than the 8GB. If you say add an extra stick of 16GB, only 8GB will be dual channel and the other 8 will be single.
Also like you said, it has to be same type of ram/timings etc@parallelparadox: I didn't know that. Good tip!
Does my head in how they keep using really average webcam's in these otherwise great laptops.
How do you purchase and get it shipped from China? In an another post, few people were recommending to buy it from website like Taobao where you can save another $100-150.
Yeah but then what about Warranty. If it is not covered by Lenovo here in Oz, is it worth the saving of $100?
I purchased lenovo early to mid June and its delivered last week.
I am not sure why people so concern with waiting time
To be fair, their email saying it will be 6-8 weeks until its delivered, however it turns out to be a lot quicker than thatYou are just one of the lucky ones.
I ordered mine on 18 June with the delivery scheduled for 3-6 July. But then they changed it to 21 September. I contacted them and they said that there is a shortage of spare parts. I sent them several emails but they won't care less and kept giving me formal answers that if I don't want to wait I can cancel my order. When I persisted they offered me another laptop for the price I paid but with the lower specs and where I would also lose 11% cash back. So I just cancelled the order.
Will never order anything from Lenovo again.
Great deal, a brighter monitor would be nice though.
how quick is AMD comparing to intel i5?
I used to own an AMD A9-9420 3.0-3.6G with SSD, they are even slower than a i3-2330m (only 2.2G) for daily use.
That is an APU, that i3 is much better.

Looks like there is a new coupon JULOVE brings this spec down to $1002
i have recently recieved a new E15 gen 2 model. Now I recognized that the right side from my bezel (the edge around the laptop) is lose. The left side is fine, but when I press on the right side, you hear a clicking noise.
Is there someone here who has the same problem or same laptop without this problem? Maybe this is a normal case but I don't think it's normal.
Hopefully you guys can help me :).
I checked mine, seems ok. No loose parts. You need call support or something to check what is wrong. The laptop is a finger print magnet though. Also using AMD Vari-Bright does help with the brightness. I ordered on the 14th and got the laptop on the 29th July.
thanks for your information, man. Have you use your finger to slightly put to the bezel?… you may hear the small sound like some plastic parts hit together. i think it is quite difficult to realize that but make me annoying.
interm of the brightness, i decided to turn off the Vari-Bright option to maximize the brightness when I uncharge the laptop.Checked there is no bezel issue on mine, seems one of the clips might not been put properly. Remind me of the days when i used diy my laptop by changing the thermals and not putting back the clips properly. It is still under warranty, you should get it checked
With the same spec's about $162 cheaper going through Lenovo's educational/Student.
