I have two bunnies, a male and a female. I wanted to desex them. I called few vets around in Melbourne, and the price is upwards for $300 for each. Are there vets who are less expensive?
Cost for Desexing Rabbit > $300?

Thanks so much. No, I will check the clinic in Ferntree Gully. That is a great lead
I was thinking maybe just desex the female, but after reading this, ok the male needs to go too.
Un-neutered male rabbits are full of hormones and want to find a female to mate with. They will often run circles around you, they will mount your leg, your arm, the family cat or dog — it just goes on and on.
…so what's the problem, isn't Love the Answer?
Yes, people say, it is better to desex both.
Why not just get rid of one sex and have two of the same sex and save your money?
Rabbit pie and Rabbit stew taste great btw.
Why do people always feel the need to troll with these types of comments or other hijack attempts. If you are under 10 I apologise.
Sounds expensive, maybe just eat them?
The kits or the conies?
Prices are usually lower around easter if you can hold off..
First world problem ? lol 😂
South Eastern Vet advertises <$150 for each
https://southeasternvet.com.au/They can charge so little because they get their work experience students to do it.
"Desexing your female pet can reduce the risk of:
Pyometra
Mammary tumours
Metritis
Ovarian cysts
Ovarian / Uterine / Vaginal neoplasia (tumours)"I hope it also reduces the risk of pregnancy!
Thanks. I will check it out.
Why not just swap the female for another male? Hast to be cheaper. Find someone who has both sexes and wants two female rabbits, between the two of you you'll save $600 and I bet all four of the rabbits are probably gay anyway.
this bloke will take care of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqgi7PCdyPw&t=679
Gday mate,
That's about how much it costs for a rabbit.
Have you tried Melbourne Rabbit Clinic in Ferntree Gully? That's the only place we take our bunny for checkups and vaccination.
Either way, you definitely need to get them desexed. Female bunnies can develop a type of cancer later in life if not desexed.
