Financial and stock market readings

Hi all.

I have been investing in etf for quite a while now. I would like to read a bit more about stock market, so as of now I'm keen to get a paid subscription to online magazines like fool, afr, Morningstar, etc.

What are your suggestions?
What is your favourite financial news website?

Thanks a lot!

If the writers of investment news letters are as good at picking stocks as they claim then why aren't they running a fund instead?

    • This.

    • I don't want somebody to tell me buy this buy that. Hold that etc… I am just trying to find a good source of news to keep me informed.

  • Marcus Padley is a straight shooter. You can sign up for a free 2 week trial of his Marcus Today newsletter.

    • This guy is a broker not an analyst or fund manager.

Read the fund manager reports - for free. Subscribe to Intelligent Investor - analysts and small fund manager.

      • Thanks. What's that?

Sorry to inform you they all just want to push their own interests .
The more sheep they have the better they can offload their rubbish .
Realize that and think outside the square to not join their burn't sheep club .

    • Thanks for the advice.

  • Some stocks posted on line for free from the fool contributors these people love to list the successes and tout massive increases but they don't like to mention other stocks ( note as a none subscriber I don't know if sell orders were issued by them in regards to these )
    NIB $5.75 14/05/18 - $4.67 16/07/20
    MBM $0.415 06/01/18 - $0.042 16/07/20
    SW1 $0.45 06/01/18 - $0.036 16/07/20
    BUD $0.25 06/01/18 - $0.014 16/07/20
    CPH $1.16 06/01/18 - $0.029 16/07/20

motley fool SA is garbage that is the only advice i can give…

There free website isnt bad but to keep upto date on day-to-day updates on the market, however from my person experience the paid subscription is rubbish. Matter of fact i'd say the paid subscription is a good way to lose money…

Honestly if you ask me stick to safe ETF's there is no get rich quick schemes that work in my experience - If you ask me people who do make money fast on shares/property/Crypto has more to do with 'luck' opposed to intelligence - sure you got to take a risk but the best advisors usually own or work for funds

  • I use Intelligent Investor, they had a EOFY Sale and it was 550 bucks (think it is usually 770) for the year (which is tax deductible if you are investing).

I find them to be decent, few items discussed weekly and they have a wrap up email that gets sent on Fridays, they have model portfolios that you can review with weightings (if you want to follow) and read up on analysis to see if it aligns with what you are after (Buy / Hold / Sell Analysis). They seem to be more on the conservative side when it comes to recommendations.

There is also a Q&A section where you can ask questions about the stocks that they cover. I heard about this on Ausbiz TV (watch it from 12 - 1 pm daily) where there are various Investment Analysts that cover 10 stocks recommended by viewers for review with Kochie as the host.

I find it useful, might not be for everyone though.

Also take a look at a website called Strawman - it is relatively new but I like the community analysis etc.
