  • I think the old MX850 is better if you can still get it. Very heavy duty.

  • USB Cable sold separately

    dealbreaker…

    • In my case the printer is a replacement so I'm simply using my old USB cable. However, I'm not sure why some companies don't ship devices with all required cables?

    • Would be easier to network it but setting it up isn't as easy as one might think unlike those hp printers.

    • ta for pointing out no usb cable.

not a dealbreaker for me though.. i have stacks of them.

    • These can be bought for $2

  • ink dont seem to be too expensive!

Should be a $50 or $25 cash-back on this also via Canon website.

This printer is on sale at Myer for $101. I don't have a photo of the price but I'm sure someone can grab one. Seems like there is extreamly limited stock there though..

  • Staples had them on sale for $178, fantastic printers…

  • Bought this printer like 2 years ago, it's a bit expensive but totally worth it. The ADF and automatic double sided printing/scanner are pretty awesome to have if you are a uni student. The only downside of the printer is really that the printing is a bit slow (but it's not meant to be some enterprise office printer though).

Just wanted say you could always get the Canon MX885 and get them to price match off any store on staticice. You can price match it to $178 minus 5% at MSY.

    • GREAT IDEA. especially as the MX885 also gets $50 giftcard as oppose to the $25 giftcard for the MX870
      (according to link above)

bargain88 is right, these are at myer for just over $100 (i think $101 or $106)

    • whoops didn't mean to vote it up, meant to say none in Myer Melb CBD just been down there.

      • maybe you can try price match at officeworks and get an extra 5% off

    • According to Myer stock system, only 2 left in Melbourne City store. Sold out elsewhere.

  • Great unit. Double sided scanning is awesome. Got it for <$150 last year with OW pricematch and have been very happy with it. The current $25 cachback offer will make this unit the same price. I would say grab it! Also re the new mx885, I remember reading a few reviews which said the touch buttons weren't very responsive. Also not a fan of glossl black office gear - you can see the dust on it, hence am happy to stay with this rather than upgrade..

  • Another plus for me on this one. Using it over wifi. But this is the normal Officeworks price.

Lots of cheap ink solutions e.g.

  • Is the 2 Year Extra Cover Replacement Plan $35.00 worth?
    Cheers.

  • Damn you Officeworks!

I already have one, paid more than this and it's worth it. Duplex printing, copying, scanning…

  • wow, not that often you see a review on CNet with a user feedback rating of 9!

i currently own the Canon MP830. Nothing wrong with it at all… but for $178 I'm very tempted to buy the MX870 because it has network ability.

Only thing this one doesnt have is CD printing, but that's not too much of an issue these days.
