IMPORTANT: I have found out that doing this causes the phone to fail SafetyNet. This means that NFC payment services (Google Pay) and some other sensitive applications may refuse to function. Please proceed with caution.
I recently got a OnePlus 6T from the recent Dick Smith deal, and was disappointed (but not suprised) to find it was T-Mobile branded and lacking its usual Dual-SIM capabilities.
Turns out, its pretty straightforward to fix both of those issues!
- Follow this guide on XDA-Developers to flash your 6T to stock OxygenOS 9.0.11
- You might find your OTA updates fail after this point. Download Oxygen Updater which will download the latest OxygenOS 9 update, which is required before updating to OS 10 (for some reason the stock OTA updater can't figure this out)
- After the above, try the stock OTA updater again and it should get you on the latest OxygenOS 10 version!
Now you will have clean, international OxygenOS ROM and should see the Dual-SIM hardware online. However the jerks at T-Mobile also put in a custom SIM tray that omits the cutout needed for SIM2, so you will need to either modify the tray or buy another one from eBay.
Can't imagine how expensive the SIM tray costs on eBay.
