  A few years back one of my domain with 1&1 was hijacked/stolen. The domain was still far from renewal date and was locked from any unauthorised transfer. No issue with my account. The domain was transferred illegally from back-end to a domain scalper account. After a few days contacting them, I managed to get the domain back and immediately transfer it to another registrar. Never look back even though they have this $1 promo all the time. Definitely something dodgy with this company.

  Never buy from 1&1, they're a bumhole of a company.

  I bought a domain from them a while back; when I tried to let it lapse they threatened legal & recovery action. Their invoicing system is weird & confusing at the best of times.

  They're one notch above a scam.

  You could always register then transfer after 60 days to an AU based company like Zuver (effectively costing you $20 for 2 years).

    Why would you do that? You could buy 3 .com from Porkbun for USD4.15 for the first year which renews at USD8.56.

      Yeah thanks, haven't heard of Porkbun, but that is cheap. Does that include DNS management console?

        Yes, including DNS, and i find it to be one of the best companies for domain names, which is probably why they can offer first year at a very low cost, and once you have used them you will be going backwards if you transfer to another company.

        Namesilo is another cheap registrar that gets good reviews. Im going to swirch to them once my renewal is due.

  They are scammers. I ordered new domain for $1 when this deal was posted and now they have cancelled my order saying

  Dear XXXX XXXX (Customer ID: 68203XXX),

  Your order was canceled at point of sale. You will need to seek service elsewhere.
