I believe they have 3 R's (but then many other people don't care about this promotion, so there is a chance that there is an R in the bin)
you gotta be pretty desperate to rummage through the rubbish looking for 'R' but yeah i think you've got a good point here. People should Keep the rare letters that the user 'swimmingtoad' has shown us (below)
Spoke to someone on Gumtree selling the R for CAR, he is currentley selling to someone offering $13,000. Seems eating Macca's pays off…
wow that's extremely lucky for that person
however if McD does find out that there was money exchanged for the R, it will be invalid so wasted $13k for the buyer, but a big win for the seller(assuming they meet at an unknown location)
issh - for sure… But for that amount, I wouldn't be surprised if it WAS macca's buying it…
But then, the buyer of the eBay one will be pissed when they find out they wasted money, cause macca's won't honour it… Honestly these people must be stupid to think McDonalds arnt watching all these sale sites waiting for them to pop up…
hey is that legal?! you can't do that or can you make a profit from something like this? What does the our big brother McDonalds think about this?
if you can sell it without McD knowing it's fine but if they find out i believe it is invalid as it is in their Terms and Conditions that no trading or selling is permitted
It's a pretty stupid tactic, in my opinion. Any person with an "R" would be better off going and spending $100 on Macca's to get the "C" and "A", then get the car and sell it that way to get the cash.
what happens if you don't blank the code? wouldn't you still need to send in the actual stickers? and how the hell did that other guy on ebay get 650 stickers?!
i sent him an email asking about that. i reckon dumpster diving. though if i was an unemployed uni student again then I would just hang out at the busiest mcdonalds and collect them when people leave their crap on the tables.
Not unheard of people having friends/family working for Macca's to have them just slip a heap of fries boxes in their bag on way home, give to a friend as try can't claim as per T&C's… Really, Macca's arnt fort Knox…
Food for Thought anyway…
From whirlpool for your reference:
"And the <_> letters appear to be the rare ones:
C-A-<R> Red (Holden)
H-<L> Blue (Holiday)
<B>-P Yellow (Fuel)
S-N-<Y> Orange (Sony)
M-N-<E> Green (Cash)
P-<3> Purple (PS3)
S-<O>-P Pink (Westfield)"
Yep that's true
and the rare ones are the # of quantity there is
Awesome - now I can put all mine in the bin!
Some random fact: This promotion actually happens internationally every year.
(But pieces found in one country, cannot be be used to claim prizes in other.)
For some odd reason in Australia, unlike other countries, it is not played on a monopoly board.
Search: McDonald's Monopoly
So for those going overseas, do note that this promo is available there as well :)
Hey there, I do remember playing this sort of game a few years back at Mcdonalds' and they did use a Monopoly style board game thing. back in the late 90s or early 2000s.
Yeah, I remember the Maccas monopoly board game as well…Wondered why it never came back and now I guess I see why.
It was stopped in the States after a court case, and I believe there was some effect of this to other countries which is why it stopped the competition. From what I recall McDonalds in the US had (for years) been getting a company to print up the Monopoly stickers etc. Turns out the owners of the company were keeping the rare letters, and over years they (and their family and friends) "won" millions of dollars worth of prizes. They ended up getting years of prison time, and McDonalds had a PR nightmare as their customers had been duped for years into believing they could win. This is why over the last few years they have had more direct win competitions (ie where you peel off the sticker and automatically win something, without needing to collect different letters)
@drdolphin But this is the game where you have to collect different letters…
There was also an unsuccessful court case in Australia.

Check this out guys,
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/McDonalds-Spy-Stickers-/300611373…
Some lucky guy has the red 'R' and the green 'E' and they didn't even know they pretty much won (read the comments below in the ebay link lol)
You know, I saw this too and was going nuts. I would offer then $10k even for it. BUT, after reading the FAQ & Terms & Conditions from McDonald's micro website with this promotion, it says you are not allowed to Sell or Trade these, and they will investigate if found to be true.
"I really did not realise i was sitting on a winning ticket and have been in undated by messages of people wanting to buy off me for $20 or even free.. I have had threats of not so sell to anyone else and also had legal action threatened against me if i sell early at a buy it now option.. I think for my safety i will keep and use for myself.. I did not realise how low and sad some people can get just to get anything with out earning it a fair way .. U have really shown me a good lesson and u have really shown how nice some people can be.. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and this proves that there is still great people in the world unlike the other 200 + scum and filth that sent me messages all through out the night.. SHAME ON YOU ALL !!!"
Pretty sad. Hope no Ozbargainer sent threatening messages.
The auction is a hoax. blurry photo of nothing. and "I didn't know i had a rare ticket!!" I call your crap and raise it.
My feeling also.

Board games decades ago. Good old times
There is only the instant win car left. One is being quietly sold and the other is apparently confirmed on Whirlpool.
If you buy hash browns only, you need to spend on average $300,000 to win any prize.
Prize is a first class heart attack.
If your a student and have a Student Edge card, then it'll equal to $225,000 to win any prize :D.
I have student edge card but never use it. what are the offers in nsw mcdonald??
Oh uh you get a free medium drink if you spend more than $3 at Mcdonalds.
@feepitee that's not bad!
I'd rather 2 mcdoubles and a medium drink rather than cheeseburger + fries + drink, 4 beef patties! :D
To be fair, it's cheeseburger, fries and 2 drinks, and with that combo you get 3 chances at winning I-Spy, whereas with 2 McDoubles and a drink it's only 1 chance to win I-Spy.
Either way, it's a cheaper lunch for about $4, depends if you like the burgers more or the chips.
@Feepitee
I don't think they'll let you use the edge card with the Daily Lunch deals :(
I've used it at Flinder's Street McDonalds and the Springvale McDonalds, works fine for the lunch deal, seems like the only T&Cs for the deal is that you spend more than $3.
last r if probably thrown away as there are some who don't care about the promotion
Ah I remember the monopoly competition McD had many years ago. I managed to win a monopoly board game from that promo (the crappiest non-food prize). We already had a monopoly board game so we donated the prize to the local nursing home. They also had a concurrent deal where you could buy a cheeseburger for 50c if you also bought a drink. Large drinks were $1.50 back then (which came with 2 stamps!), so I ended up having my $2 post-school snack every day for like 2 months. Sometimes I was lucky and won a BigMac or a cheeseburger.
As you can see, I had a very uneventful childhood.
….. I really liked your story tho, lol.
Well, Macca's is the only shop open in the morning for breakfast where I work so if I want a coffee, I'm usually buying one with a hashbrown or something in the morning. About the only thing I've won out of it is a small pile of apple's (as in apple, not apple pie of which I have 1) or fries. It's almost not worth the card it's written on >.<
I always seem to get dud letters too, or those damned seared chicken wraps, that I redeemed once but was made so horrible I didn't even want to throw it in the bin, it was so bad!
they didnt give me a free chips when i redeemed one of my stickers yesterday. why does it seem like every time you go drive thru there is something missing…
Something IS always missing or incorrect… Why?
Guys I got the Letter R :)
Pics or it didn't happen :P
Is anyone else not getting their sticker when buying Medium chips? My last two meals didn't have the stickers :( only the drink did.
Yeah I'm only getting them on my drink. Since when did an Instant Win require a purchase? My friend got told he had to buy something to redeem his seared chicken wrap :|
Doesn't that contradict their terms and conditions to what qualifies as an eligible product? I remember reading medium fries to be one… Curious as to whether Maccas are pulling a dodgy on us.
wool over the sheep's eyes. (no offence intended !)
At Browns Plains they don't have any medium cups with the stickers, I asked nicely for a sticker and they gave me an empty large cup.
Anyone else think asking makes you seem desperate or overly into this comp?
Might have to consider asking next time they skimp me ma sticker! xD
Dude, I got a free coffee from it.
Worth it.
This is ozbargain…

I've had ~10 and won 3 times.
I used to play McDonald's Monopoly back in the day. Had every single letter on that board except for the few missing rare ones :(
Haha, they probably print 100000 Cs, and 100000 As and 1 R :p
