Hi guys
is there a monitor that is powered by USB-C available somewhere? I need a second monitor to take with me to work - very convenient - but dont' want to have to carry a power brick around as well… The only alternative atm is a tablet like computer eg microsoft surface but its expensive and if only used as a monitor not very cost effective
I've got a 13" laptop and would love a screen i can can just plug into usb-c and power it up
if there isn't, should we invent it?

There are many that are slimmer and/or thinner bezel. Just search for "portable monitor" on eBay or Aliexpress. Most of them are USB-C powered. You probably won't find one that's 6mm or less though — won't even fit a USB-C port.
Just in case someone else is looking for the same thing. There is an app in iOS called SideCar that allows Mac users utilise their iPad as a second screen. For Windows users - SpaceDesk provides similar experience with almost any Android or Windows tablet. Wirelessly over WiFi or over a USB cable.
Not exactly pretty - lag and refresh rates aren't the same - but if you're working with documents and need a second screen to keep that reference list open, it is a functional solution

What you're after is called USB-C powered monitor. They also have built-in speakers and HDMI input.
They also can be run on power banks.
