Best TV for Gaming Room under $1400?

I’ve been looking at getting a 50-55 inch TV for my gaming room for some time and have had quite an issue deciding. I’ve been looking the LG UN7300, Sony X7000G and Samsung TU8000.

Do you guys have any experience with any of these? (Open to other options as well). Keep in mind that the room that the TV is going in has very little sunlight in it.

I was pretty much set in the UN7300 but then I was that it has a TruMotion rate of 100 which is apparently only 50Hz. I liked what I saw on the TU8000 but I don’t know if the backlight bleed will be to intolerable given that it’s an edge lit.

The TCL C715 seems like an interesting choice but I can’t find many reviews about it and am unsure of the quality of TCL.

  • Any of the three would be a good choice. Have you taken a look in a shop? The backlight bleed on the TU8000 isn't noticeable unless you are looking at a totally black screen in a dark room at night. It's motion smoothing rate would also be 50hz based as that is the frequency of mains electricity in Australia. You wouldn't want motion smoothing when gaming as it introduces lag.

    • I saw the UN7300 in store and it looked pretty good but it’s hard to judge because the lighting in store will be entirely different from the lighting (or lack of) in the games room.

Apologies for potentially dumb question, but with these TV’s being 50Hz does that mean that if a game runs at 60FPS I’d only be seeing 50? Is there a way around this?

      • The game will run at a max of 60fps.

  • Wait for an OLED on sale they feature G-SYNC and 120HZ 4K support.
