Baby Video Monitor, Which One?

Hi!
Hoping to get a bit more help with our baby coming along in October. Looking at putting a baby monitor onto our baby shower registery but am stuck with all the options!

Basically from our research we can see that Oricom isn't very reliable and secure. The features we are looking for are:

  • has a separate video monitor, but we can still view on our phones (hubby can watch baby when he's at work)
-image and sound quality is decent
  • reliable and secure enough (we know they an all be hacked into if wanted to, but secure enough to deter hackers would be great)

The ones I've seen rated highly are below:
Cubo AI, Nannio Comfy 3.5 and Hellobaby monitor.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I have the Vtech RM5762. Happy with it so far as I can move the camera by swiping in the app so I can look while at work. I got one on sale a month ago at baby bunting.

Best will always be standalone, but won't let hubby view from work (you could always video call him if he wants to see baby while you play with it etc. Not sure why he'd need to see baby sleeping!). Standalone means just standard video/audio monitoring. No need for another app, no issues with the network/internet, and no way of being hacked. Quickest/easiest way of looking at the video feed if you hear a noise (monitor detects noise, displays screen, you look at screen) as opposed to the phone/app - app detects noise, needs to open, then show the video feed, which won't necessarily be instant depending on network/internet speed.

    • Thanks, will consider it! We thought it might be good to have the mobile option as well so when Im out and hubby is home i can also see baby. Although, can understand its probably not an essential! Haha.

Do you have any suggestions for a standalone video monitor :-)

      • Been a few years since I looked tbh, best quality that your budget can afford ;)

  • spare iphone 5s from work does the job well.

    • I considered that, but being a first time parent we wanted the extra features baby monitors give just for peace of mind :-)

      • I am first time parent as well, you will enjoy it. =) But yeah, my wife is full time hands on with the little one and spending the night with us with his co-sleeper.

I have the Kodak c525 or similar (not sure exactly the matter number).

It has both an app over wifi and direct connection with a screen and camera. The app has a better picture quality. Sound quality is sufficient for what you need.I've viewed from work before which was nice.

Not sure about security - they certainly make a lot of claims about it but it's outside my area of expertise to comment if the claims are legit. It seems secure enough to me.

Had lots of trouble at first with connection issues, but it now works flawlessly. It has a movement sensor so you can get an alert on your phone when it sense movement. Would reccomend.

    • Thanks, definitely one i am considering. Its quite pricey which is why i haven't put it down. But it does probably have everything we want and need. May put it on the list if nothing else comes up:-)

  • Google Nest Cam or Cam IQ.

Use it as a baby monitor and after a few years, repurpose it. Can view from anywhere.

    • We had the same thinking by using a tp link kc120 camera. Has motion detection, speaker if you need to talk or play music and record video.

  • Anyone owns the Nannio Connect, and can provide feedback? Thanks
