Where Would I Find a <= 2006 $10 Note?

From 2007, the names of Banjo Paterson and Mary Gilmore were printed under their portraits.
I'm collecting every circulated bit of AU currency from my birth, and after 108 articles, this is the last piece of the puzzle.
Willing to pay $25 for it, how would I go about sourcing one?

Many thanks!

  • A philately store - they normally have coins and money as well

  • eBay

  • Have you tried a numismatic shop?

  • I have a few pre 2006 10s lying around… is this what you're after?

    Old people hoard cash to qualify for the pension. Find some old people.

    • You could probably find a suitable one in a nursing home/retirement village, etc. I did a job for an oldish fella once, charged him $20 and he pulled out a very solid and thick roll of old $20's, the one he peeled off for me was a CoA vintage and the rest probably were too. Sadly, I didn't get any more work from him.

      Where there's a will, I wanna be in it. :-)

  • "I'm collecting every circulated bit of AU currency from my birth". Good on you for having a somewhat different hobby. I imagine it would be much more expensive and difficult to collect every stamp issues from one's date of birth.

  • Many years ago I collected special 50c coins (Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee, Charles and Diana's wedding, etc.). I would go to a bank and ask for $100 of 50c coins, then search through them, and deposit them back the next day, keeping any specials I found. Rinse and repeat with another bank. I suspect you could do similar with $10 bills but of course you'd need to be getting around $1000 worth for a good sample. Also it might raise more suspicions these days with nanny if you do this regularly.

    • Bloody brilliant mate. I have 2 missing special 20c and 2 missing 50c coins sourced through normal means. Over 5 years ago I got a good run and obtained many that I didn't have then it's been a drought due to changed conditions - looking after kids and hardly ever using coins.

      hmm… great activity for the kids too!
