Finally purchasing a new TV.

Hi all,

I bought my last TV 5 years ago (on an OzBargain Tip) which was a Hitachi VZ655100.

Look, overall its done its time. Its not flashy, its not a smart TV and its barely Full HD - but its done a good job for the $1000 I paid.

Now, I want to spend about $2000. I have looked at Hisense R8's come up, also looked at the 2019 Sony's as someone mentioned that picking up the X85G (2019) would be better than the X80H (2020) and looking in store i would agree.

I've only really looked at Sony/Hisense - I am open to other suggestions and I appreciate any advise as I know there is always a lot of good suggestions here!

My TV use is predominately sport/gaming and the misses watching Netflix..

Thanks :)

Is that not pretty much the case for every company in China?

Here's my suggestion: Get an OLED. You're Welcome.

    • Can you recommend a 65" Oled for $2K?

      • OP mentioned looking at 'Sony/Hisense'. And the Hisense had their 65 PX OLED lower than 2K before (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/504741). Pair it with an Apple TV, NVIDIA Shield or even Vodafone TV and you'll have a great set up at a lesser price.

        • Is there still concerns with OLED burn in?

@sixthirty: There will always be but don't let that affect your decision. Most of the people who write reviews online are the ones who had concerns. While the majority that don't have problems couldn't be bothered too. I had my LG 65 C9 and used it for gaming and movies 5-6 hours per day with nil concerns since purchased.

@sixthirty: If you watch a lot of the same content that have static banners or logos like news channels, sports or porn hub then it will start to develop burn in over time. You can check RTINGS burn in simulation for reference.

        • Also some of the reviews for the PX OLED are pretty bad, not just OS but input lag and ghosting.

          • @sixthirty: Best way I can tell you like any other things is to check in in store. Have a play with it and see if you like it. Again, I would pair it with an Apple TV or NVIDIA shield as the Hisense interface is not that good. But OLED panels will always be OLED.

  • Sony TV quality is awesome. I've had my Sony Android TV for about 4-5 years, still going strong. Had another Sony TV that's about 11 years old now, still going strong. Picture quality and colours are always excellent with Sony.

A friend of mine had a Hisense TV replaced under warranty with the second also having sound issues. So not sure about quality.

I bought a 65 Sony Bravia X950 a few months ago for about $2k and couldn’t be happier with it. I bought it specifically for HDR 4K gaming and movies and it’s been excellent.

    • I would jump at that if I could find one! Extreme shortage atm.

LG OLED wait for when they release a new model and put the previous ones on clearance.
