Hi all,
I had an interesting interaction with JB today and wanted to get some thoughts / experiences.
I went to purchase something at $299 but I had seen it on line at David Jones for $249. The guy said sure, let me look it up. He came back and said they would NOT match it as the only DJ's that had stock were in Sydney and so he would not honour the price, he would only do $262. I said that DJ's delivers for $0 so that should be enough shouldn't it? He said no, they will price match on-line retailers like Amazon but and retailer that had stores and on-line had to have stock local to honour the price. I said the website says nothing about this, just that the price has to include delivery costs…But he refused to budge.
Lucky for me i then open up Amazon and noticed they had just discounted it to $229 which he they price matched….So a win for me in the end.
Has anyone heard of this bricks and mortar rule about local needing to have stock to honour?
(please no comments saying "well you got it at a better price, why do you care", I am interested in experiences in the issue of local stock as a rule)
I was told straight out they won't match Amazon. I was led to believe they don't have a 'price match' policy, they have a 'we will consider reducing our pricing when shown a competitors pricing on our terms which change all the time'.
