Perhaps Ozbargain isn't the best place to ask. Maybe you could instead seek advice for the best place to seek advice to find someone offering financial advice?
I'd suggest do a lot of reading into investments (shares, dividends, franking credits, bonds, credit losses, P/E etc) before you go to a financial planner because a lot of them know a lot less than you think.
Best if you pay for a financial plan to be drawn up that you can action yourself, tell them you won't be buying through the financial planner. In that way they have no incentive to put you into products with any benefits to them (you can argue they can't accept commissions / benefits but if you know human ingenuity)
Are there any books you can recommend?
