they rarely ever actually sell for that much though. korean versions are going for under 500USD (720aud) now.
supply will dry out soon, that much we know, however demand is determined by time as well. AC got released a quarter ago, so the hype is still kinda strong. But my view is by the time supply wears thin on ebay, the interest in the game would've waned as well. This mostly applies to the gamers who aren't collectors. I think most collectors would've already gotten one or have another source aside from ebay scalpers.
my speculation is resale prices will normalise at $550-600 the longer this drags on. A good historical example is the pokemon/mario LE switches, albeit colours aren't as appealing as this AC release IMO. Once people are over animal crossing, resellers are on even playing ground with the regular switches which often go on sale. The fact it's limited/special edition will always command some kinda premium, but that is correlated to popularity/relevancy of the game. But the bottomline is if you have a BNIB special edition, non-superseded switch, you won't make a loss.

i have on good authority that a) might not be true. friend of mine ordered 2 in 1 order, his card has been deducted, still no cancellation. it's funny because he got cold feet and actually wants the refund haha.
@plentifoo: pretty sure he can just call up and ask for it to be cancelled, as it probably hasn't been shipped yet
also, order cancellations are a bit delayed and they're coming through in around 20-30 mins after order placement

Selling a pre order item means jack. I pre ordered one switch animal crossing console was assured it’s coming this week. Only to be told today they only got 3 in and I was the 4th preorder…. now have to get my money refunded with no compensation and lost opportunity to get one thru target, big w or who ever ..

Gamesmen has it at $409 from eBay. If you don't care for the 'special edition' moniker or these colours in general, just grab the normal models and save $60 for a game.

both really. this is supposedly the last run on this design. the initial release was in march.

The consensus from the previous posts is that these are just special editions that are hard to come by due to low supply of the console altogether. (Also what OP probably meant by constant stock)
the same question keeps getting recycled, there's no real source or definite truth to all of this. but i'd apply some common sense and go, it's a design based on a game that will become outdated eventually, would I be manufacturing switches designed with the same print indefinitely…?
also look back and use other limited/special edition releases as precedence. Google pokemon or mario edition switches, they don't still manufacture those concurrently with your regular grey/neon switches.
No Sauce but as long time follower of Nintendo, this is the first time main consoles wise they have restocked a limited edition of a console.
Usually, once it has sold out, sold out, Nintendo knows their market. The rare restock is due to Corvid-19.
The only time they restocked their limited consoles was the NES and SNES mini to stop scalpers worldwide.
The only constant stock of Switches will be the regular colours.

I have an unpatched version of the console (2017), which I was looking to sell while resale prices have been elevated and pick-up a new 2019 version. After weeks of advertising I've just nailed down a sale for $450 (and that's despite drift affecting one Joy-Con). But now I'm having second thoughts because some of the resales for unpatched consoles have been as high as >$600. Who here would pull-out of the $450 sell?

check the email and see if there is email saying cancelled
for those stuck on "awaiting processing", copy paste the order number into the track order page. it will give you detailed results such as if order is cancelled or has been packed and ready to ship
just check mine, it says
