80

Hi all

First time poster, found these at 30% off with Myer

Yet to try them myself so cant give much feedback but they seem to be only to the Australian market, best part is they work with Google, Alexa and Homekit

$159 instead of $200 for the Cygnett Smart Bundle

Going to pick up a smart home bundle and see how i go with my homekit setup

Cheers

  • The rest of their stuff is so expensive, even with the 30% off hey

    • Yeah agreed, smart bulbs didnt interest me much as i use hue but thought for the door sensors would be decent

  • Anyone know if the temp sensor will let me ask Google “what’s the temperature in ‘x’ room”

I assume it needs the hub as well but been trying to find a fairly simple solution for the above

    • Good question, not to sure. I know you can set automation's so if the temperature sensor drops below a certain temp it will turn a device on

Found this from Cygnett if it helps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osDewoPKL_E&t=56s

    • It will need a hub of some kind - it is a zigbee device.

I've got aqara temp sensors attached to the zigbee hub in my Echo Studio, so I can do "Alexa, what's the bedroom temperature". I imagine these would be similar if you had a suitable hub for your google device.

      • Thanks for the replies!

I was looking at the Aqara Sensors with a Xiaomi Hub, I assume that is a similar set up. Do you know if your setup is also Google Compatible?

        Thanks :)

        • +1

I'm in the Echo ecosystem, so can't say. But they certainly <i>claim</i> google compatibility.

  • If/when you get some of the Cygnett gear, let us know what the build quality is like. Every previous Cygnett product I ever tried was the nastiest cheap garbage and would start falling apart as soon as it was unpacked from the retail boxes. But that was years ago. Perhaps they've sorted those issues now and have stuff that's worth the asking price. Would be interesting to find out.

    • Agreed, my usb-c cable starting to buzz and smoke coming out while charging my phone. My phone cable port had some burn marks too, was lucky I was able to smell the smoke in time before anything happened lol. I had the cable for a good few months. Customer service claimed they sent my replacement twice but never got it.

    • will defiantly let you know. Im also curious to see the build quality but from reviews they seem much better

    • Unfortunately my Cygnett charger from this deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/546209) has died within a week. Disappointing as I now need to go through a warranty claim. On the flip side, my Cygnettt USB-C powerbank has performed admirably for a number of years now!

  • Is the cygnett ir hub zigbee? Page doesn't specify.

    • Yes
