I have to stock up again. Mine finished last week and now I am using the Kirkland ones.
How are those compared to the Aldi brand?
cost and finish? How are the Aldi and Costco brands compared to Finish?
@andresampras: No I meant, how do they differ in cost and final finish. Did they find the kirkland wasn't as good or pretty much the same?
@Da dpG: Lol I wasn't trying to cause confusion.
I literally meant how are the Aldi (Logix) and Costco (Kirkland) tablets compared to the Finish-brand tablets….in both cost and finish (ie. results), considering the price diff…. Logix is around half the price of Finish it seems
@andresampras: hahaha on the same page.. thought you posed the question, questioning my question.
@andresampras: I find that with Aldi ones, the dishes come out wet whereas with Finish, they come out mostly dry. Having said that not all Finish are the same and I am currently using Ultimate Pro, which I believe is their most expensive one. Used Aldi ones for a few months but now happy to pay extra for Finish. It might be that my dishwasher isn't the best so Aldi ones might give better results with better dishwashers.
@ozioziozi: With multi-benefit tablets such as Finish Quantum Ultimate and Finish All in One, rinse aid and salt functions are included. However, in very hard water areas we also recommend the use of seperate Salt and Rinse aid products to protect your machine and achieve the best result.
@andresampras: I use both Logix and Finish tablets with a Bosch dishwasher machine. For quick wash (30 minutes), i think Logix is better. Less slippery. For regular wash (2 hours and 30 minutes with mine), I think Finish tablet is better. the dishes are little slippery after a regular wash but very slippery when I set a quick wash. But in the end, I guess it doesn't really matter with either of these tablets. They both do a good job.
@squall3031: try 60minute wash. I find that's more than enough for 100 washes. Then one in a hundred I put it in clean mode which is 1.5 hours.
@andresampras: Current Choice review gives top score to ALDI logix complete in the dissolvable wrapper shortlist, followed by ALDI logix platinum. Third are the Coles Ultra Complete Clean Lemon Fresh and fourth are the Coles Ultra+ Complete Clean Lemon Fresh*.
Finish surprisingly is waaaay down the list after Earth Choice etc. and Choice did not review Kirkland brands.
F you don’t want a dissolvable wrapper a choice gives top rank to the Earth Choice dish tablets.
Mind you, I often find myself disagreeing with Choice priorities. In fact sometimes what they think important compared with other factors can be down right annoying.*Coles should just shoot their branding weenies, or at least thrash them, thrash them to an inch of their lives!
Kirkland ones are my backup tablets. If I can't find logix, I buy Kirkland ones.
Pricewise fairly similar. Costco ones are around 17.5c for a tablet.
Cleaning wise, quite similar as well. Occasionally will get a load that hasn't washed properly, but that could be because of too many dishes.
Logix tablets smell a bit better than Kirkland tablets.
@RSmith: Thanks boys. I use Coles advanced. $0.06 per tab. Pretty good even on 60 min cycle on the Bosch.
@Naigrabzo: Link please
@Naigrabzo: redo your math mate
i tried kirkland ones on my bosch dishwasher, and i hated it. the residual lemon smell lingers in everything, even after i ran the dishes another round without tablets.
Yes, Kirkland leaves an unappetising soapy smell on the dishes despite using rinse aid.
Kirkland makes too much bubbles… our Asko dishwasher's got allergies with any brand other than….
- Fairy
- Logix/Aldi
- FinishI am using the Kirkland ones …. they're quite poor in quality. It leaves an unpleasant smell despite using rinse aid. I was very unhappy with it. This after I switched from finish quantum ultimate, which is way superior than Kirkland. Have not used the aldi ones. Will try them this sale
Which of the finish branded tablets are these similar to? I've been using finish quantum or the Woolworths shine 18 in 1 pods.
Anyone know how these compare to fairy platinum?
Stocked up on the fairys with that WW's loophole a while back but these perform as good.
fairy is much better in removing greesy stuff.
How is this compared to https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/79075/finish-classic… currently at $14.99
was about to ask the same question. this Finish one seems not a bad choice.
Been using this Finish ones - pick up a box once in six months when its on sale.
Time to stock again, wanted to see if this is comparable.
Cost wise, Finish = 13.62c a tablet. Logix = 15.99c a tablet.
But I can't find any Finish classic in stock in Chemist Warehouse.
Finish looks like a better deal?
Do these ones have the loose dissolvable wrapper still? Last time I used these the tablet would get stuck inside the tablet drawer.
Yes
Do people use the drawers for tablets? I leave it at the bottom.
I thought most dishwashers have a pre-rinse cycle to get rid of the major crap, also often to analyse how dirty your dishes are. So you'd be wasting some in that?
Believe with the drawers - it opens when it needs to. If you leave at the bottom, it just dissolves in the first rinse wouldn't it?
I think you may be referring to the budget Logix tablets. When I tried them, the dissolving wrapper did not dissolve. When you took the time to remove the plastic, they did a less than perfect job. Gunk left on plates, stain marks on cuttlery, etc. Also, traces of tablet left behind in the dishwasher. As a result, I've never bought another Aldi dishwasher tablet. I'd rather pay more at an expensive supermarket and get something that actually works. The budget Logix made too big an impact to bother testing the Platinum.
Exactly my experience, curious about platinum but feel burnt by normal one being so terrible.
I've used both the Platinum and Complete (the cheaper one) and haven't seen any difference in result between them. The wrappers haven't been a problem for me either in my cheap Bellini dishwasher.
I pull the plastic off as it doesn't actually dissolve, it just becomes micro-plastic and goes into the waterways. :-(
Source? I did a quick search and the gist was that the film is made of PVA that ultimately dissolves into CO2 and water. The contents of the tablet, of course, is another story (pretty toxic to us and the environment)… so I use non-toxic dishwasher powder from the organics store.
My daughter is an environmental scientist with a marine biology major. According to her even when dissolved down to it's smallest particle it still enters the food chain with long term detrimental outcomes. She seems to know what she's talking about.
My GF also has a science degree (geography - I have no idea what the relevance is) and says the same about the dishwasher tablet plastic. We even went on a date to the beach below Taronga Zoo counting plastic in quadret(??) squares but only down to 1mm particles. Living the dream with that outing.;-)
I'm just an engineer and take their word for it. If they start telling me how to maintain large chunks of steel I'll fight back.
I put them in with the powerball down so the surface tension of the water doesn't cause the tablet to stick.
A bit cheaper than the Coles ultra plus, which I've found really good.
i'd wager that these two products are the same. Both made in Luxembourg, How many dish washing tablet factories could there be in Luxembourg?
Well, apparently at least two ?
Same here. 6c per tab.
I saw 30 pack for $6… That'll make it 20c per tablet.
KORRECT! I was wrong and for a year or so as well.
@ Naigrabzo: Both your name and your Maths are backwards. Please show your calculation for 6c per tab. I see 30 tabs for $6, which comes to 20c per tab.
Naigrabzo should be Niagrabzo to be backwards.
@RSmith: mistake. :)
Anyone have issues with these sometimes not getting fully used up in a cycle? sometimes i need to run the wash through twice for the tablet to be completely used and other times it is done in one go. I got a feeling its user error haha
Yep, noticed it myself. I've now switched to keeping the tabs in one of the dish racks rather than in the tab compartment. Issues are much less prevalent now.
We've been using these for years. They're perfect. Will be stocking up as we've just run out of our last stock we bought a year ago.
I usually struggle to find stock at my local aldis for these during specials… hope others have more luck than I!
Go in early.
16c/tab if anyone's wondering
15.99c/tab ;)
Is the platinum much better than the standard logix? I binned standard ones after 3 useless washes didn't clean anything for me.
Are tablets necessarily better than powder?
I've had mixed results in the past with the tablets, but never had any issue using the Logix powder - takes 2-3 more seconds of effort.
Surely less dissolvable plastic is better for the environment too?
About to use Coles powder and compare to coles Advanced.
I must admit, I prefer the powder. You use less so more environmental friendly and much cheaper! 1kilo should last 40 washes (as 25g per wash). I use the aldi, Coles and Woolies and never had a problem! So I don’t understand why buying the tablets, which don’t even dissolve that well for me
I've been quite satisfied with results of using the Coles powder in combination with rinse aids. Our usual clean cycle is 120mins as its a really old machine.
I use vinegar as rinse aid. I can't be bothered paying a premium for rinse aid. I buy the $2 vinegar from Coles and refill the expensive vinegar bottle at home. For at least 2 years, the expensive vinegar bottle at home has always been full!!
Might give this hack a go next time !
Cheap china crap
Shine 100pk for $12 at woolies
And how do they compare in quality of the wash?
+1 Vote for me on these, I've swapped from using the finish classic tabs to the woolies ones, they work just as good if not better in my opinion
I don’t see a difference. Shine claims rinse aid included while the cheap Finish doesn’t.
Reminder set
I have used these and the normal aldi ones and these are much better, with the standard ones some dishes are not cleaned properly and i never had that issue on the platinum ones.
Anyone got the latest choice rankings?
Try looking at Reject Shop. I bought two boxes of Finish dishwashing tablets (100 tablets each) for $20 total.
Disolvable wrap or not?
Dissoluble wrap
Finish leaves a white residue on my dishes. Aldi tablets are much better.
these are my go to, will stock up thanks for the heads up. i usually buy 2-4 of these boxes when they come available as they are great
These r my go-to tablets
these are great, have built in rinse aid so i don't have to buy that anymore either :)
should factor that into your cost per tablet
Vinegar mate.
unfortunately for me I can't really use anything - my rinse aid tank uses up whatever is in there each wash, if it's full it all goes. And i can't be bothered putting in a tiny amount and guessing how much every single wash - pain in the bum. These tablets make it much easier! :)
Thanks OP, hopefully picking up a few boxes today
Cool. I picked up two this morning.
Will give these a go finally - thanks OP
