  • what is the email address for ordering?

    • +1

I have previously asked the same question.
On the top of the MSY page, click on the "Select Branch" tab.
A pop up will open and will include the email addresses and openning times of each store.

      • thanks. just ordered one.

  • -1

That'd be right - I won't be within 80km of an MSY store for those two days :(

Great deal. Can we have some info on the read/write speeds?

  • so would this be fast enough to work as a SSD for the HP microserver? (booting win7 on the internal USB)???

    • -7

"so would this be fast enough"

      It's Supersonic…

    • The USB ports on the HP MicroServer are USB 2.0, so you'll be limited by it's maximum transfer speed.

      • -3

USB 2.0 max speed is ~ 60MB/s so this nifty stick will max it out just nicely.

        • USB 2.0 tops out closer to 35MB/s due to high overhead.
Still, this should be ok for booting, probably not as quick as a regular hdd but a bit hard to judge

        • Yeh, but a cheap SATA drive would crap all over that.. Takes up more space, and power, sure, but think of the speed!! I'd hate to be doing anything on a Windows system running entirely off a USB 2.0 drive. =/

    • -1

Sure, but WAY overkill in size… where 2 GB is enough for FreeNAS ver 8.0.1

Maybe play it safe & use 4 GB, but 32 GB…? Not for me. :-/

    • thanks guys, I may wait for the next SSD deal then…

  • -1

Sounds like a sweet deal, I just ordered one

Got my confirmation email, will pick up tomorrow.

      • Mine either! Is there anything special you need to put in the emails to them?

        • This is all wrote and they sent me the invoices..

        • your internet banking username/pin so that they can auto-deduct the amount.

Actually, if you just include your credit card details here I'm sure we can expedite the purchase(s) for you.

      • JUST got their confirmation email :)

  • How are you guys ordering, the site online still says $69!!

    • via email as per instructions

    • When I click the link it says:

  • I just sent through an email order of 2 pieces. Hopefully I get a reply, or I can pick them up tomorrow morning - that would be nice…

    WA sold out :(

But considering this bargain for a Corsair refurb shipped from overseas and with a very limited warranty and slower speeds for $36 got a bunch of up votes, this one most certainly deserves one.

  • wait, did they do this test on a USB2.0 port?

I have a USB2.0 usb key and its read/write speed is closely identical to the one specified for this product.

So how can this be USB3.0 ?

    Please inform this ignorant (myself)

    • The write speed is within USB2.0 spec. The read speed is well above it (about double).

  • @Rep, my missus happens to go to Mel tomorrow, can she pick it up for me ?? if so Do i have to write any authority permission ?

    • please email to branch ask for reserve, they will send you order number.

      • ok thank you.

  • I'm not going to get this one. Yes it's cheap, but the reviews on NewEgg and Amazon say that it's physically and mechanically flimsy. Reports are people breaking off the lanyard hole, the spring retraction mechanism springing back when you try and pull it out of the port, and concerns about physical longevity (and the looseness of the fit in the port).

Cheap is one thing, but I'm not into data loss. No vote from me.

    • yeah you have a point there, i recall that i had couple usb2.0 dies due to just reason ….

    • From Newegg:

"…I would not buy this for frequent every day use like a tech who is working on many computers throughout a day. It will be annoying, and the cap just does not seem like it will last long before it breaks off."

Bummer. Sounded like a real bargain there for a minute. Turns out to be a dumping.

  • Indooroopilly Branch (QLD) sold out

    Out of stock in Melbourne

  • "Available in branches: Holden Hill | Elizabeth | Port Adelaide" Mmm, I might have to pass rather then risking my life in those suburbs to get one.

  • Clover: I just ordered one from the Altona Branch…

  • Dammit just ordered a 16GB the other day. Would have gotten this otherwise.

  • +1

+ve Got one. 2 year warranty..

Edit, CAPACITY IS ONLY 29.4 GB! this is a rip off!!! FUUU lol jks

  • FYI Altona and North Melbourne are out of stock but scored one at Malvern. Booya!

  • Looks like only Geelong have stock.
Mitcham arn't answering their phone (typical)

  • I just got my two and I've tested them both using h2testw. Both are 29.4gig as mentioned above (although that is probably because they are formatted to NTFS), and I got 24MB/s write and 55MB/s read from them. So alot better them the USB 2.0 sticks I've had.

    • +1

The guy above was joking, all 32GB drives will register as 29.4GB. It's othing to do with the format, it's to do with how badly the nomeclature was not standardised. All HDD/flash/storage companies advertise their KB/MB/GB in the standard decimal, where 1KB = 1,000B, 1MB = 1,000MB, 1GB = 1,000MB. Whereas Windows & Mac recognise in using a binary prefix where 1KB = 1,024B, 1MB = 1,024KB & 1GB = 1,024MB.

      So it's 32,000,000,000 Bytes. Divided by 1024 = 31,250,000KB. Divided by 1024 = 30,517.58MB. Divided by 1024 = 29.8GB.

      • Thanks for the clarification

      • LOL

  • Real fast - great buy. Also 31.43GB formatted on a Mac :)

  • Picked mine up today. It's pretty fast, as in it performs as advertised.

  • Has anyone had any problems with their USB sticks? Mine won't play MP3s in my car (get 'reading error')… damit!

  • mines been a champ so far. I have tried in both USB 2.0 ports and USB 3.0 ports.

Can believe the read/write specs are directly comparable with real world performance!!
