Searching for Unclaimed Money Using Resources Less Well Known

Hi all.

Reaching out for those who have some experience/expertise in sleuthing unclaimed money.

I have received one of those TaylorMarsh letters which claim to have found unclaimed money in your name, but you need to pay them $44 to tell you about it. Prefer to try to find it on my own, and have already tried the usual suspects; ASIC/MoneySmart Search, state Revenue searches.
It's about $300 so I could just pay up, but my experience so far has been that businesses holding unclaimed money that you believe is yours want evidence that you may not have, so no guarantee I could make a successful claim.

I found some unclaimed money with AMP in my name (I have an unusual name including middle name)some time back dating back to 1989, but AMP refused to give it to me without documentary evidence, so no dice.

Still $300 would be nice…

Any ideas where else to look?

  • Could you check with SRO in your respective state??

    • Thanks. Checked all SROs.

  • Follow up with AMP. Privacy Policy Page 4. Demand a copy of your personal and prior account information.

All institutions were required to hand over unclaimed money held to ASIC

TaylorMarsh got your information from a public search. If it exists and they found your details, you should be able to find it.

    • Thanks for the suggestion for AMP.
I know TM found it in a public search but where?

  • This is govt. site to search, try here
